Whar Ferentz Haters?

Not me. I want Ferentz gone. This what you were looking for? I'm impressed he didn't lose to any garbage teams this year for the first time in what? 10 years? Half the reason a lot of people picked the hawks to suck so bad is because of the fact that KF is a garbage gameday coach. This year the teams we played sucked bad enough and Iowa got the ball to bounce their way. Doesn't change the fact that I want him gone and I still hate the way he coaches. That being said, I'm very happy the hawks are 8-4 because the entire reason I want KF gone is because I want the program to be successful and I don't think he is the guy to lead them there. 8-4 with this schedule is precisely what they should have gotten to. The fact people are trumpeting an 8-4 season without beating 1 team that will finish in the top 30 in the country says a lot for my point as to where KF has brought this program to today.
Your feelings towards towards ferentz are the same many here have towards you. Sooner the gone the better. But ignore works as long as you aren't quoted.

Damn i screwed up by quoting a fool.

There are certainly some Ferentz haters out there, but criticizing his coaching/results does not necessarily make one a hater. Like it or not, his salary will always be an issue and he will be held to some pretty high standards because of it. Just the way it is. Joe Mauer is held to a higher standard because of his salary. He gets some pretty stiff criticism when players making $400,000 a year, out perform him and rightly so. It is frustrating as hell for fans, when they see $400,000 a year coaches (N. Ill. Central Mich., Western Mich., etc.) beat our guy making millions. It is the nature of the business and Ferentz knows it. When you sign a deal worth around $30,000,000, you had better be ready for the expectations and they are going to be high. He gets all the accolades when things are good. He should expect the opposite when things are not so good. Ferentz is aware of this and I think he handles them both pretty darn well.

Right On whammer !!!!!!!
maybe your skin is too thin if you let those people make you feel like crap after an iowa win. sure, listening to those guys constantly belittle the team and KF gets old, but i don't let them get to me and bring me down to their level.

iowa is 8-4 and headed to a solid bowl. enjoy it and forget everything else

I have more respect for you than others that sit on the fence and have changed their tune.

I have been critical of the coaching staff and I blame Barta for the contract but when some on here go as far as to spew all over this place after a WIN, to me that is a hater. I am fine with criticism, I am guilty of it as well in fact I was pretty vocal after the NIU loss and the crap performance in the Missouri State game. But they turned the season around and made it a good one, if you are truly a Hawk fan you are enjoying this not finding ways to be critical of the coaches.

After the Northwestern game you would have thought Iowa had lost the way some reacted and after the Michigan win it was all about how Iowa has not beaten anybody. Now Iowa has went on the road and beaten a tough rival and it is no wonder how many of those posters have suddenly disappeared.

Wow. Iowa beat a whole lot of mediocre teams this year... Are you really beating your chest over Iowa's football season this year? Really?

Almost beat 4 better than mediocre teams this year... For instance, MSU lost to Notre Dame, Northern Illinois is in the MAC... Wisconsin and tOSU are Wisconsin and tOSU.

I see you're happy Iowa beat, for example, Northwestern, an injury riddled Nebraska, Michigan's offense, who for the life of them, can't adjust when blitzed because they have a QB (and WRs ,too) who can't figure out how to quickly dump off the pass when blitzed... Which game, IYO, was the most significant win for Iowa this year?

IMO, one thing that completely describes the difference between Iowa football fans and Nebraska football fans is the desire for excellence... But what excellence? Just a few years ago, you screamed and hollered for the removal of KOK because he couldn't engineeer a late TD to beat Wisconsin in 2009, or because he followed KF's offensive orders... until he was gone.

Where are the KOK haters now? Why do the KOK haters hate the KF haters? I thought this was about Iowa football and wins and losses... Guess it isn't. Why is that?

First this turned out to be a fun, rewarding and outstanding season considering the debacle the previous season. All credit goes to coach Ferentz, his staff and the players.

Next what you have to understand is there are three camps within our fan base.

1. The Apologists - will excuse anything even 0-12 saying everything is acceptable and we are lucky to get what we get

2. The Fireheads - we want him gone no matter what and 12-0 is not good enough. We could be better.

3. The Realists - this what we are, this is where we are at, these things are good but these things make no sense. We know good football when we see it regardless of win or loss.

I am in the Realist camp. I am critical when it is warranted but also very supportive when the credit is due.

Excellent product and season this year. Saw many good changes and adjustments with the ultimate result being a good product that everyone can be happy with. Kudos to KF and crew.

Most people prefer Ferentz but wished he coached differently. It appears that he has modernized his approach a little bit throughout this season. He is mixing up the running backs, mixing plays, taking chances, blitzing.... These are things it takes to win in today's game and he appears to be shifting his philosophy.

+1000

Now if he could just start recruiting at the pay level he is at where 4 loss seasons are frowned upon and we are competing year in and year out for BCS bowls. His pays still demands more, but I'm happy we at least finished 4th

So, specialK doesn't have that high of expectations for the Hawks. Good for him.

My expectation is never 'x' number of wins. My expectation is playing good fundamental football and let the chips fall where they may.

I want to see a team where the players buy in into one another and the coaches. Likewise where the coaches have not mailed it in and give the kids a chance. I do not want to see gimmick football but a physical style which pounds the rock, play-action game, stout defense with blitz packages as warranted and good special teams. I do not need to see 4 or 5 star players that think they are too good. Give me development of guys that have some ability and desire anyday.

Bottom line is give me good football over glitz and glamor. Some years that will be 6-6, some years better.

This is the first time I have seen good football since the MSU game in 2010.

The credit goes to KF, staff and players for getting it done.

OK, you don't care about wins and losses for Iowa, SpecialK. You care if the players play as a team and you care if Iowa plays physical football. And you give credit to KF's staff for getting that done....

I think that is a fair statement. Play good football as I believe you will ultimately be successful. Winning is a process. I have seen both good and bad 'x' win seasons.

I should have added that I am also anti-entrenchment of players. I believe in creating competition for playing time which is the carrot for most players. Competition makes everyone better. If a player is not getting it done or is really struggling over a period of time then go to the next man. We actually saw examples of this and guess what it worked both for new players emerging and also for guys earning there way back into the rotation and then producing.

As a realist we had been playing poor football since MSU 2010 and I thought maybe after last season the hunger and desire to play good football was gone. I was wrong and KF made the changes staff wise and set aside his stubbornness to allow for a few tweaks that were huge. Guess what.... It worked.

Meh, I can live with this logic.

If you can't see improvement from last year to this you are trying to be a pain. All a team can do is improve. This goes for all teams. Whether you choose to sit and complain is your call but you are losing traction and wagon mates left and right.

Some people will never, ever be happy, short of a BCS/Rose bowl team. The funny thing is I would bet about anything they are the same people that chest thumped all day long after the consecutive #8 finishes.

Yeah. 10 years ago lol This is a perfect example of people not getting it.

Nailed it.

I wonder why haters like Drummer and Prdtor40 don't post with the regularity they did a few weeks ago when the Hawks were 5-4?

Words like idiot and moron are discouraged on this site, which is fine. "Simple", captures you sufficiently. To say there are some things you just don't get... would be an understatement. I criticize the coaching failures (particularly the repetitive ones) and I praise the successes. Always have, always will. It's called integrity.

I can only assume youth is your primary limitation. (The constant use of "Hater" is a dead giveaway) Legitimate criticism is part of life, eventually you'll learn that. But I realize that it's a difficult concept for some of the "everybody gets a trophy" generation.

Reading comprehension......I said the same people that are b!tching about KF now (IE Makavelihawk) are PROBABLY the same people that were chest thumping 10 years ago about KF (IE Makavelihawk)

I'm not the whiny, crying, super d0uche, running around the site complaining about wins and a 8-4 season.....But keep on keep on thinking you "get it", and your "expectations" will carry the program to the next level.

I hate Kirk's offense but I love his defense, player development, game prep, class, and loyalty. I've never wanted him fired but have voiced my frustrations many times about results on the offensive side of the ball.

Does this make me a hater?

You're just mad that it has now officially been proven to anyone who isn't in denial that you have absolutely no clue what you're talking about. You're running low on ammo and your opposition is bringing in the clean up crew to double tap anything that moves. Whatchya gonna do Makaveli? Whatchya gonna do now? My guess is you'll call people names and act like you're the only one who "knows better". Funny thing is the joke is now on you.

Precisely "superdouche". Being proud of the top 10 finishes 10 years ago and seeing where the program is now and not liking KF are not mutually exclusive. You can do both. Do you understand the fact that CFB and specifically the B10 have changed dramatically in the last 10 years? I know it's difficult for someone with your level of intelligence to comprehend, but give it a shot. Like I said, you don't get it as you so aptly proved in your last post.
