Whar Ferentz Haters?

I hate Kirk's offense but I love his defense, player development, game prep, class, and loyalty. I've never wanted him fired but have voiced my frustrations many times about results on the offensive side of the ball.

Does this make me a hater?

I don't think so. There have been times where I get frustrated with KF and the staff. As was pointed out to me, KF is the head coach. Ultimately he is responsible and accountable for the football team. Criticize, debate, or whatever. I just think it's only fair if one can criticize KF and his staff, also give credit where it is deserved. Most expected 6-6. Were 8-4 and potentially heading to the Outback Bowl. KF and company at least deserve some respect for that.

You're just mad that it has now officially been proven to anyone who isn't in denial that you have absolutely no clue what you're talking about. You're running low on ammo and your opposition is bringing in the clean up crew to double tap anything that moves. Whatchya gonna do Makaveli? Whatchya gonna do now? My guess is you'll call people names and act like you're the only one who "knows better". Funny thing is the joke is now on you.

I seriously hope you're under the age of 18 man. Dead serious.

KF deserves most of the credit for 8-4. That's the beauty of college football. There's only a handful of professionals involved. And HCs has the final say on all play calls, playing time, scholarships, game planning, etc. So credit and blame are easy to place.

First this turned out to be a fun, rewarding and outstanding season considering the debacle the previous season. All credit goes to coach Ferentz, his staff and the players.

Next what you have to understand is there are three camps within our fan base.

1. The Apologists - will excuse anything even 0-12 saying everything is acceptable and we are lucky to get what we get

2. The Fireheads - we want him gone no matter what and 12-0 is not good enough. We could be better.

3. The Realists - this what we are, this is where we are at, these things are good but these things make no sense. We know good football when we see it regardless of win or loss.

I am in the Realist camp. I am critical when it is warranted but also very supportive when the credit is due.

Excellent product and season this year. Saw many good changes and adjustments with the ultimate result being a good product that everyone can be happy with. Kudos to KF and crew.

Precisely "superdouche". Being proud of the top 10 finishes 10 years ago and seeing where the program is now and not liking KF are not mutually exclusive. You can do both. Do you understand the fact that CFB and specifically the B10 have changed dramatically in the last 10 years? I know it's difficult for someone with your level of intelligence to comprehend, but give it a shot. Like I said, you don't get it as you so aptly proved in your last post.

Go a your tantrum somewhere else. The rest of us fans are going to enjoy the win, the season, and the turnaround of the program from last year.

Wait. Who's throwing a tantrum? Me for stating my opinions or you and your buddy DP who are attacking and calling names for no reason whatsoever? The OP asked where are the "haters" right? Precisely what I'm doing. It's my opinion and you are coming in here like a 14 year old cheerleader calling names because I don't like your starting QB and you want to just tell me how dreamy he is as though it's going to change my opinion based on years of factual data. It's actually quite sad.

Realist
KF, the team and staff to be congratulated for a very good year. Thanks for yesterday and witnessing Iowa whipping Debbie in their house. Total awesomeness!

I do expect to win 8-9 games per year.

Go Hawkeye Football

There is one sad person in this, and it ain't me. I am supporting and rooting for the coaches and players, no matter who they are, you are not. I am enjoying the win from Saturday, you are not. I am enjoying the 8 win season, you are not. So go ahead, and keep your "expectations" and keep wishing for different coaches, different players, hating every game, and every win. That is how you want to follow and watch the Hawks, who I am to judge. I will keep supporting them how I like as well.

I can live with 8-9 win seasons every year and I think that is something that should be in reach and expected.

We can definitely agree on that. I just think it is a "what have you done for me lately" mentality. We were 4-8 last year. We exceeded expectations this year and have a favorable schedule next year. Here's to moving things back in the right direction.

I mean no offense by this but I always cringe when the schedule is cited as a reason for success. We look good on paper but have two huge question marks at linebacker and left tackle.

No two years are exactly the same or completely predictable in CFB as the roster changes every year.

I am pumped though, just cautious.

Oh I agree. Nothing should be taken for granted with our history of injuries and etc, every game is just as important as the next. We can't look past anyone.

whats really so comical and annoying however is how besides about 3 posters none of these "told ya so" ferentz people made any posts defending him the past months... but now they are in a mad sprint for their key board.

I'm fine with people disagreeing with me or whoever... but sheesh have the spine to say it all the time.

I have been pretty consistent with being an apologist, defender, and chugger...and called all of those things...repeatedly. I have also been consistent in stating that there is plenty of room for criticism at times...just not quite to the extent some seem to go.

I've always felt KFs pros outway the cons.

I also don't think we should expect 9+ wins as the norm. Nor do I think we should lose to poor teams.

i'm not going to read most of this ... and i don't have any hilarious "didn't read" gifs in my stable.

but, we went 8-4 - with a first year qb.

there are zero fans that wouldn't have taken 8-4 before the start of the year.

if you need me, I'll be over here enjoying what these kids managed to do.

Like. Please post more.

Not me. I want Ferentz gone. This what you were looking for? I'm impressed he didn't lose to any garbage teams this year for the first time in what? 10 years? Half the reason a lot of people picked the hawks to suck so bad is because of the fact that KF is a garbage gameday coach. This year the teams we played sucked bad enough and Iowa got the ball to bounce their way. Doesn't change the fact that I want him gone and I still hate the way he coaches. That being said, I'm very happy the hawks are 8-4 because the entire reason I want KF gone is because I want the program to be successful and I don't think he is the guy to lead them there. 8-4 with this schedule is precisely what they should have gotten to. The fact people are trumpeting an 8-4 season without beating 1 team that will finish in the top 30 in the country says a lot for my point as to where KF has brought this program to today.

Wow. Can't help ya. But I kinda feel sorry for you.

Pretty well said. I'm mostly 3 but I'll admit I can show shades of 1 at times, just perspective I guess.

KF was a Bellicheck disciple. Ball control, defense and execution. We may not be flashy but more often than not, if we execute the Hawkeyes at minimum are competitive with just about anyone. How many times have you heard how well-coached and disciplined Iowa football players are? I hear it often. While we don't always possess the talent or personnel, KF gets the most out of his players.
As for his contract (as it often comes up) I think you can look at it different ways. He is overpaid and we are stuck with him or you can look at if Barta didn't ink KF to a long term deal, he would be likely doing well in the NFL and Iowa would probably be on their 2nd coach by now.
It helps having a head coach you know is going to be there for a whole. It is good for development of a system and recruiting. I do think with KF's style we should win at least 8 almost every year.

I can get down with this thinking.

You feel sorry for me about my opinion on a guy that makes 4 mil a year and a group of 20 something's that neither you or I know personally? lol Get a grip man.

Its just that your setting yourself for more angst than happiness. 1) cause KF is likely the HC for 7 more years and 2) if 9 wins is your minimal expectation, it goes against history and all known data. However, you are welcome to you opinion.

3) you just seem really angst-y.

My grip is just fine.
