I have said from the beginning of all the criticism and the mediocre performances by Iowa football teams the last 5 years that those who think KF has lost his desire for winning due to his contract do not understand the mentality of people who coach at this level. The same goes for Gary Barta, although the progress he has made with athletic fund raising and the resulting improvements in facilities are far and away the priorities in his job...you can think otherwise, and that is fine, but you are wrong. Think big picture, and you will improve your perspective on the Iowa athletic program. If you think GB would hesitate for one minute to recommend that KF be fired, if he really thought that it was he best course of action, you are playing in the minor leagues.
KF has a giant ego. That is what it takes to coach at this level. Ask Bo Pelini; ask Jerry Kill; ask Urban Meyer this year; ask Mark Dantonio this year; ask even god-like Mr. Saban. You can argue that KF's style of O or D is wrong and you may have a point. You can argue that he makes poor decisions on game day, and you may be right, though i disagree. You can argue that he has not recruited at a high enough level, and you may be right, though I disagree.
As Nebbie and WI have found out, be careful what you ask for: You may get what you think is an improvement. And, just to clarify, yes, KF made a very good decision to abandon Jake and go with CJ. He made very good decisions to implement a new recruiting process. He made good decisions to open up the Offense and appoint his son to "offensive coordinator." Disagree? Give me some proof.
