Again, McNamara hasn't thrown a td pass at iowa against a P4 team. Not 1. And those still puffing their chest about iowa going 8-4 to 10-2. That doesn't make us a good team. It just means we scheduled that many wins. And people are tired of the same old movie. It's beyond time to watch something different.

Said Nebraska administration and its fans when it fired Bo Pelini in 2014. Been a great decade of football since! Just sayin', different isn't always a good thing.

Exactly right. And he’s so incredibly stubborn, he never wants to show he may have started the wrong guy. Ferentz is full of pride

BTW, I heard Collin Cowturd on Fox make almost this same argument about Mike Tomlin and the Steelers yesterday. "He is too old school, his offense is antiquated, his coaching is stale, you can't win with just defense and special teams, he was only elite when he had Big Ben, a consistent winning record is overrated...."

There is some irony in the two longest tenured head coaches with the same team in both leagues, whose teams wear near identical uniforms, falling under the same criticism that the game has passed them by.

That’s really a dumb way to look at life. Kirk is chasing a record. Iowa is held hostage in the meantime. We know what we have here and it’s a completely new world now. It’s long beyond time to find out

Let's say Kirk steps down...and then Beth hires from within the program...does Iowa's offensive scheme and identity change or stay the same? Play not to lose is the yearly theme for Iowa. I for one would love to see something different and more exciting, but what's the cost of that potential change???

The next guy isn't going to have any B1G West titles to sell alumni on. I love what IA does on D and ST Given the talent levels, so keep them similar. But open the offense to the point that it actually is Complimentary.

The Michigan game was a revenge game at home. Michigan is overrated and Iowa would beat them if they played this year. Iowa has a better offense than Michigan does. as long as cade doesn't turn it over Iowa will win

The first sentence was likely said on a Husker board in 2014. Shortly thereafter, they would have 6 consecutive losing seasons and became the laughing stock of college football. Or, they could have kept winning 9-10 games every season under Pelini. As Fry has said many times, most coaching hires end up a failure.

The second sentence is wildly untrue. Kirk does not have a prohibitive buy out and can be fired at any point. Everyone on this Board has been complimentary of Beth and has noted she is not Barta by any stretch. If he deserves to be fired, he will be. I suspect if he has a 6-6 or worse season at any point moving forward, he will be put out to pasture. But, its a suckers bet to fire a coach coming off an 8 or 9 win season. The odds of regression, especially in the short term, are far greater than the odds of improved winning totals.

Its not a sexy answer, but its just true. If true is dumb to you than so be it.

Don’t pay attention to that dude he is long time Cyclone troll.

2008-2021: Iowa is 8-8 against ranked opponents and the only time they got beat by more than 10 points was the Rose Bowl debacle against Stanford.

Since then it has been brutal. They have been 0-8 and they really haven’t had a pulse in any these of games and that‘s the issue. Trophy games(ISU, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Nebraska) he has 5 losses in the last 10 years and as much as it suuucks to lose to those schools you really can’t complain.

The problem is that when Iowa faces a ranked opponent now, there’s no hope of winning. Take out Cyclone trolls and the fans with unrealistic expectations, the rest of us just want that hope back.
