View of HN is quite funny.

the team hasnt had anyone step up and make plays simple as that. wheres tim dwight when we need him? kf isnt a player last i checked

This is a bizarre reply. You just blamed KF for KOK and GDs offense. Which calls into question KF's intelligence and ability. But then engage in a flight of fancy suggesting that he has the "integrity" to appoint a relative youngster to a position for which he has demonstrated no aptitude. And then you further suggest he would defer to his son when it comes to offensive philosophy. Again, there is no evidence to support that theory. If a business owner grooms his son to succeed him I think there is a fair debate over the wisdom of that move. But to suggest that should be done at a public University where the reward is millions for the son, but the cost could be monumental damage to the program, is beyond "reasoned" thinking.

Now I'm wondering who's alt you are? I didn't say a word of what you said I did. Whar did I say it took "integrity" to make Brian OC? Whar did I say he would defer to Brain (said he would do everything he could to make him successful, not DEFER to him). Whar did I say Brian should take over as head coach?

If you can't read or comprehend, you might want to move along and try to troll someone else, as this is going to end badly for you. I got a pretty good idea who's alt you are, and JD hasn't lifted teh ban yet dude.

Maybe. I kinda think the best alternative is to hire a top OC for whatever it takes and let him run the offense. Meantime though, start CJ. He's the only one that can make this GDGD offense work.
No 'great' OC will ever compel KF to start a QB like CJB on a regular basis. Never.

Who's gonna wear 16 next year?

I like to think of myself as a reasoned thinker, instead of a reactionary buffoon as many on here are. I think that is what some have a problem with. For instance many "haters" on here say KF doesn't care if Iowa wins or loses??? I mean talk about stupid. It is the over the top stupid things that make some question the loyalty of the "haters". Nobody minds criticism, I know I don't anyway.

I want KF gone, I think Iowa can do better at this point. I'm not sure what that has to do with Davis? Since I know that Iowa will not fire KF, my HOPE is he fires Davis and moves Brian into the spot. My reasoning for his is if he is going to let anyone open up the offense, the only person would be Brian. So instead of having freaking temper tantrums on this site daily about something that isn't going to happen, I try to be reasoned about things.

I never seen anyone say that.

I think it is entirely plausible to say that winning is not the most important thing to KF anymore.

There are things hes not willing to do like bench returning starters who have paid there dues in favor of ones who more talented.

The way it appears is that doing things his way is the most important thing. I believe he views this as more important for the long term.

At least, Hawkeyebob would have an inside track to being Kurt's OC. He knows what kind of offense (I use the term loosely) Kurt wants.

I've always wondered if there've been 61 previous iterations of Hawkeyebob.. Then I realized bob is just old.

I don't necessarily think slowly changing ones mind is that strange.

I defended KF, even with the flaws, because in my opinion the good outweighed the bad, and I liked how the guy rolled. '10, '12, and so far '14 have made me question if that is still the case.

Things change, and could again. I, much like KF, am probably too loyal and stubborn. But hey, Hawkeye fan above all, regardless of coach...like most here.

Strange, but very interesting thread OOTH.

Let's win Saturday...how 'bout that. Go Hawks.

Bumpity bump.

This was a very interesting thread and for some reason every time i start typing Hawkeyenation into my browser, this is the thread that fills in. There's some good stuff in here, kind of a cool reread.

This is Iowa. You get 10 wins and you jump in the air triumphantly. You get an 11 win season and temp the national championship gods and you thank god for your blessings. Coach has given us two such teams in his tenure...and coach fry legitimately one. The coach to get us a ntnl championship doesn't need to come to iowa to get that opportunity...and the one that does has us on probation and rides off into the sunset. Enjoy coach Ferentz...remember fondly coach Tom davis...before you go out and spend all your money on Tylenol and midol ladies. The grass is not greener...its brown, patchy and is covering up a sinkhole of football futility.

Yep, you sound proud to me.

Man, I didn't know if I should re read this thread. Good thing I did, that Deanvogs is one perceptive dude. The next step is GD will be stepping down after this year, and Brain will be the OC. I am happy about this, not because I think he is destined to be some great OC (who knows tho, he could be). I am excited about this, because I think he will then junk the GD passing game, and bring in his own version of that as well. I mean just look what his schemes are doing in the running game this year. I also think he can bring some much need change to our passing game as well next year.

For me, Kirk's a lot like Tony LaRussa.
Confounding sometimes. Aggravating sometimes. Unquestionably "all-in" for his team. And yah, I have griped...and will gripe again...like LaRussa though, I fully recognize his success. Sure, he maybe Ferentz will never have the continual success, or the ultimate success that LaRussa did....it is Iowa. Not a perennial. I don't expect a national title...ever. I only expect really good years every now and then. We get those. Of course....in between....I'm going to get awfully grumpy.

Tough to say. He famously said that he wanted Iowa to lose every game until KF was fired. Cause everyone knows it would be much better for Iowa to be 0-7 now instead of 7-0

I do find it funny how he lambasted Kirk for years on here and now he's mum when this thread gets bumped. The announcers during the broadcast yesterday said that there would have been NFL teams and major college football teams interested in Kirk if he would have left Iowa ANYTIME in the last 15 years. One of them also said that he develops talent better than any other coach in the country. Both of those are pretty strong statements.

No one saw this team coming, but honestly that's what Kirk does best. He manages to put together a good team when no one expects it. I think its time that his biggest haters from the past few years step to the front and eat some crow.
