View of HN is quite funny.

I never EVER saw this type of year coming. With our schedule I would have been absolutely elated if we could finish 8-4 and shout "You idiots" at all the pundits predicting a 5th place West finish just above Illinois. So happy for the kids and for KF. I've been a big "It's time for him to go..." but it's clear that now they've pulled him off the fundraising road and let him do what he does best dividends are being reaped. If we go to the Rose Bowl I think next year's recruiting class could be really good.

I do find it funny how he lambasted Kirk for years on here and now he's mum when this thread gets bumped. The announcers during the broadcast yesterday said that there would have been NFL teams and major college football teams interested in Kirk if he would have left Iowa ANYTIME in the last 15 years. One of them also said that he develops talent better than any other coach in the country. Both of those are pretty strong statements.

No one saw this team coming, but honestly that's what Kirk does best. He manages to put together a good team when no one expects it. I think its time that his biggest haters from the past few years step to the front and eat some crow.

OOTH is still around, and while I give him crap about him saying he wants Iowa to lose, I never honestly took him 100% serious. He feels Iowa would be better without him, and I get that as I got into that bandwagon after the final 3 games last year. I think he is consistent though, he wanted him gone a loooooong time now, heck I think after the '10 season. I'm sure he still feels the same now as he did then.

OOTH, come on back and at least tell me if I got this mostly right.

I know he is still around. If I remember right he made the claim a couple years ago that Kirk was actually trying to lose. He has been consistent with his opinion. That's for sure. I wonder how it feels when you believe that strongly in letting a coach go and they go on to lead your team to a great season. That's a hard perspective for me to try to comprehend.

Personally, I've always rooted for Kirk. I also reached the point at the end of last year that it was probably time to move on. I'm sure as hell glad the Hawks kept him though. His personality and style fits nicely with our state, and the facts he's shown a new found willingness to change is refreshing.

Some are soooooo dug into the I want Kirk Ferentz gone that it won't matter how well Iowa does this year. That is fine, but I hope it isn't soooo engrained into them that they can't enjoy the winning while it is happening.

Agreed, I've had my disagreements with OOTH, but he's always been pretty fair and accurate with his criticism, and he was consistent. I think he's a pretty hardcore Hawk fan. I actually wish he was around more, he's a pretty solid poster.

This thread is always the one that comes up when I type HawkeyeNation into the browser on my phone...so...bump.

I kid OOTH, but I miss him on the board.
