Urban only get's 3 game suspension, Geesshh!

For which of these moral issues should YOU be fired for or shunned?

1. Knowing a friend drinks and drives but not reporting to authorirlties.

2. Knowing someone cheats on taxes but not calling the IRS.

3. Seeing a co-worker waste time at work but not reporting it.

4. Knowing that someone cheats on their spouse or significant other but not reporting them to their significant other.

Where are you drawing the line on our moral responsibilities as human beings? He who hath no sin.......

You don't get it. It is illegal to not report a felony in Ohio.
This? This is where you "proved" I'm wrong and a terrible person or A-hole as you so intelligently and politely stated? A couple of things for you. You continually make personal attacks against me and my opinion. They border on rage and honestly, I'd be quite a bit more concerned about your mental state than mine. Ive never called you an inappropriate name. I'm a Hawkeye fan. What are you? You are that threatened by another person's opinion that you stoop to name calling a Hawkeye FAN on a Hawkeye message board. My argument has two points. Urban Meyer shouldnt be the one under scrutiny, Zach Smith should be and secondly, a victim DOES have responsibility to end the abuse. If not, it would never end. Blaming Urban Meyer changes nothing. Hey look, he's still the coach.

Lets look deeper into your rage. So she told so many other people. Great. I feel really bad for her that no one would help her. Why is UM the guy to take the fall? Ill accept his punishment according to this part of your argument when dozens of other people are also fired or suspended without pay for not ending this abuse. Her co-workers. Fired. Chief of police. Fired. Any dispatcher or other law enforcement who ever took a call or read a report. Fired. Friends and family who didnt do enough to end the abuse after so long. Fired. Get the point? One man has so much responsibility in making sure her abuse continued, but no one else should be scrutinized. If it was so easy to end, none of the people in her life could end it?

When you say i practice victim shaming, you are way out of line. You dont actually read a single thing i write which is YOUR right. But I have continually stated i support her rights to get help. I just won't accept that the abuse continued solely because of UM. If that many law enforcement were involved, her actual boss, the OSU administration, support groups, family, friends, co-workers.....if she reached out as much as you/she says, then UM probably can feed a village with a single fish and walk on water. Possibly raise the dead. It doesnt add up. My wife is a mental health professional, she is a mandatory reporter. If she was seeing a counselor, that person has a legal responsibility to report. She had options. Leave. Run away. Live with family. Call state police. Call a legislator. Call NOW. There are so many people that would get involved to help especially in a high profile setting such as this. She had reasons to stay. Im sure she still loves Zach. I understand that. But dont blame UM .

The premise for your argument and the point of mine arent dissimilar. You say he shouldnt be criminally responsible. I agree . You say that he has some responsibility in this. I agree. You and i disagree on the role of the victim. Victims enable abuse as well. They are still victims. Its still wrong. They dont deserve to be abused. Hitting a man, woman or child is wrong. But a victim is the only and most important person that can end abuse. They need help, she sought help. She didnt get adequate help. I agree. But why blame UM when there are so many people who failed her? If i was her friend, i would have made it a s#@t storm a long long long long time ago.

Hopefully you read this. Hopefully you can act like a mature adult and accept another person's opinion. Stop name calling. Stop verbally abusing others. You come across as a major hypocrite is your aggressive verbal attacks. You can continue to lash out. Perhaps all of us will be arrested someday for reading your posts and not getting help for that person in your life. But perhaps they are Cyclone fans and we'll get over it.

I've completed my journey on this post. Make your parting shot and move on.

The circle goes round and round.

It's is a crime to not report a felony in Ohio.

UM was the one person who had a lot of political control on this. The treatment of Zach was a criminal and a political issue.

You also really don't have a clue about abuse. That is what is apparent.

If you read my posts and think i dont have a clue about abuse, you are lacking education. I understand abuse. I get that it is a crime in Ohio. I can read. I DISAGREE that not reporting it should be a crime. Are you too stupid to read? It must not be a crime or there must be little evidence to convict him if he hasnt been arrested. Interesting. Read before you spout.

You can say that it is illegal to not report. My examples would indict thousands of people a year according to this law. I disagree with the law. Its an "OPINION." Do you disallow those in your house? You dont understand my point. You are trying to make your point. It has nothing to do with my opinion. One more time....yes, you are correct. It is a crime. I DISAGREE with that OHIO law. Anything else you dont understand cupcake? Would you like a picture book? Pop-ups? Oh, fun!!!

Obviously you didnt get what I was saying. I dont condone violence in any way. But there is only so much you can do without getting hurt yourself. Let those whose job it is take care of the situation, its their job, thats what they get paid for. Or better yet, jump in and get involved in a situation where you too end up a victim, then tell me Im wrong. Like I said, report it, but that should be as far as Urbans responsiblity ends. You cannot control or predict what other people will do. It’s impossible.
Really tell that to the death row inmates turned loose by the NW law class because power hungry DA's hid evidence so they could get convictions. Your theory only works if humans aren't involved. See Penn St. see Baylor and it goes on and on and on.

You argue against straw men and then think you say something of value. Show one person that has said UM is the only one to blame. He injected himself into this situation and somehow you still think he has nothing to do with it.

Maybe you are right about the victim enabling their abuse because you are definitely enabling your own abuse in this thread.

He digs deeper and deeper.

Straw men? Issues. What else do you see? Federal agents? Easter Bunny? Deal with the perpetrator. Easy point. Quit blaming. Deal with the criminal and move on.

My family is and will be taught to stand up for yourself and fight. They know that if they tell me, all hell is going to break loose and an abuser is going to be on the run from more than just the law. Maybe this lady doesnt have that kind of support system. She should. If she or other young women don't, they need to be educated and taught. That should be the focus of these discussions. Why dont victims know support systems and how do we make them as available as dialing 811, 711, 611, 511 or a number for abuse emergencies? A system that blames anyone other than the actual perpetrator is creating a police state. Watch your neighbors. Spy on them. Get in the middle of their business. That's not my America. I choose to do the right thing. You cant force people to.

Law enforcement gets paid enough to do their jobs. Its not Urban Meyer's job. He was suspended for 3 games, so if we are going to make assumptions as to what he did or didnt do, my assumption is that he got a penalty to appease people who need to see people blamed. If he was guilty of more he would have been fired or jailed. He wasnt. He got 3 games because the university finds no criminal action.

This is not true at all. The University was not conducting a criminal investigation. They were supposedly determining whether he breached a clause of his contract. They decided he did. And for someone who derided another poster for name calling, you have been doing a pretty good job of that yourself

You keep wanting 1 plus 2 to equal 5.

Excellent. I guess we can move on.
He's a class A jerk, sub-human.

Low moral character does not make you sub human. They just usually aren't the kind of people you want training boys to be men. That really is the heart of what people are disagreeing with you at.

You say he didn't actually beat anybody. So why should he have any blame? Well he doesn't have any blame as to the assaults upon Courtney Smith. On the flip side his holier than thou act is shredded. He knew Zack beat his old lady and he broke bread with the guy. He turned a blind eye.

Whether he keeps his job or not is irrelevant. The truth of Urban Meyer is now known. I think most people just expected that someone with that high of a position could not survive having their character publicly burnt to the ground.

You keep saying this but not sure how it applies here.

First, the Powell police didn’t even arrest ZS so the actual folks whose job it is to enforce the law didn’t believe a felony occurred. Again, it’s mandatory in Ohio to arrest for DV if there’s probable cause. I’m guessing that’s to give a cool down period if there’s any doubt.

Second, the Powell police reported the incident to tOSU. So if the police report an incident to you I doubt it’s Ohio law to report it back to them.

The U police were also involved.

There was one person who had the most clout to something about it. He did nothing. Nothing. He put football and politics above doing the right thing.

Listen to Deace and his podcast. If you dont understand what Deace is saying you never will. You will also never be a standup guy.

Using Deace as supporting argument in ANY thread, on ANY topic="Time to shut this down"

Did you listen?

You are like Whack a Mole. Pop up any time anywhere.

I don't "need" to listen to a Deace podcast to tell you how he will react to this.

I'll pop up anywhere--any time--I frigging want. Just because you got called out for using Deace to support your point doesn't make you "right" or "superior".

Deace is a sharp enough guy. It doesn't make him the be-all/end-all on any given subject. But when you start CITING him, I have to question things. He blows WILDLY "right" on the political spectrum, decidedly pro-Michigan when it comes to college FB, and thus, I wouldn't expect him to paint a glowing picture of Urban Meyer, OR be objective when it comes to anything involving O$U football.

You really should listen to this one. Not what you think.

Yeah I was torn on it. Part of me thought exactly that and part of me was just resigned to where they'll slap him on the wrist and keep the money train rolling. For me where I was wrong was I figured OSU was looking to see if they could fire him with cause or not. I thought if they thought they could get out from paying him the 38 mil or whatever is still owed they'd be glad to get out from under that clean house with a clean slate... So much for that..

Ya that was the most logical scenario. I also assumed that to keep Meyer they would try to cover up the situation. I never predicted they would outright admit his culpability and then only slap him on the wrist.
