For which of these moral issues should YOU be fired for or shunned?
1. Knowing a friend drinks and drives but not reporting to authorirlties.
2. Knowing someone cheats on taxes but not calling the IRS.
3. Seeing a co-worker waste time at work but not reporting it.
4. Knowing that someone cheats on their spouse or significant other but not reporting them to their significant other.
Where are you drawing the line on our moral responsibilities as human beings? He who hath no sin.......
You don't get it. It is illegal to not report a felony in Ohio.
This? This is where you "proved" I'm wrong and a terrible person or A-hole as you so intelligently and politely stated? A couple of things for you. You continually make personal attacks against me and my opinion. They border on rage and honestly, I'd be quite a bit more concerned about your mental state than mine. Ive never called you an inappropriate name. I'm a Hawkeye fan. What are you? You are that threatened by another person's opinion that you stoop to name calling a Hawkeye FAN on a Hawkeye message board. My argument has two points. Urban Meyer shouldnt be the one under scrutiny, Zach Smith should be and secondly, a victim DOES have responsibility to end the abuse. If not, it would never end. Blaming Urban Meyer changes nothing. Hey look, he's still the coach.
Lets look deeper into your rage. So she told so many other people. Great. I feel really bad for her that no one would help her. Why is UM the guy to take the fall? Ill accept his punishment according to this part of your argument when dozens of other people are also fired or suspended without pay for not ending this abuse. Her co-workers. Fired. Chief of police. Fired. Any dispatcher or other law enforcement who ever took a call or read a report. Fired. Friends and family who didnt do enough to end the abuse after so long. Fired. Get the point? One man has so much responsibility in making sure her abuse continued, but no one else should be scrutinized. If it was so easy to end, none of the people in her life could end it?
When you say i practice victim shaming, you are way out of line. You dont actually read a single thing i write which is YOUR right. But I have continually stated i support her rights to get help. I just won't accept that the abuse continued solely because of UM. If that many law enforcement were involved, her actual boss, the OSU administration, support groups, family, friends, co-workers.....if she reached out as much as you/she says, then UM probably can feed a village with a single fish and walk on water. Possibly raise the dead. It doesnt add up. My wife is a mental health professional, she is a mandatory reporter. If she was seeing a counselor, that person has a legal responsibility to report. She had options. Leave. Run away. Live with family. Call state police. Call a legislator. Call NOW. There are so many people that would get involved to help especially in a high profile setting such as this. She had reasons to stay. Im sure she still loves Zach. I understand that. But dont blame UM .
The premise for your argument and the point of mine arent dissimilar. You say he shouldnt be criminally responsible. I agree . You say that he has some responsibility in this. I agree. You and i disagree on the role of the victim. Victims enable abuse as well. They are still victims. Its still wrong. They dont deserve to be abused. Hitting a man, woman or child is wrong. But a victim is the only and most important person that can end abuse. They need help, she sought help. She didnt get adequate help. I agree. But why blame UM when there are so many people who failed her? If i was her friend, i would have made it a s#@t storm a long long long long time ago.
Hopefully you read this. Hopefully you can act like a mature adult and accept another person's opinion. Stop name calling. Stop verbally abusing others. You come across as a major hypocrite is your aggressive verbal attacks. You can continue to lash out. Perhaps all of us will be arrested someday for reading your posts and not getting help for that person in your life. But perhaps they are Cyclone fans and we'll get over it.
I've completed my journey on this post. Make your parting shot and move on.
The circle goes round and round.
It's is a crime to not report a felony in Ohio.
UM was the one person who had a lot of political control on this. The treatment of Zach was a criminal and a political issue.
You also really don't have a clue about abuse. That is what is apparent.
