Urban Meyer - Can Someone Please Explain To Me?

Apparently, Gene Smith received the police report when Zack Smith was at an away game and he was called back to Columbus for a meeting. This according to the Zack Smith interview. I think maybe Urban found out about the Zack Smith interview and quickly came out with a statement because of what he said at Big Ten Media days. Another tidbit, apparently the police report had been changed at some point because the original report had the box checked that he was arrested and that was later changed (not sure the source for this).
If that's true it's gonna be harder to get him on any sort of for cause issue. Only thing you can nail him for now is harboring a wife beater.

I hate to turn domestic abuse into a chess match, but that is what it has become. Urb has just forced Gene Smith to make a move and based on that move it will determine how Urb will counter.

Just listening to the tOSU scandal podcast. I don't think this is like the PSU scandal really. In the PSU scandal, the real police never found out about the allegations and it wasn't really investigated. In the tOSU scandal, the police told the AD Gene Smith of the incident and gave him the police report.

Now, an aspect of this I hadn't seen mentioned is that Ohio is a mandatory arrest state for domestic violence. In other words, if police have probable cause for domestic violence they must arrest, no choice. That's my understand anyway. So, If the police were right, and there wasn't probable cause, presumably after reviewing more evidence than we have, it sort mitigates the decisions of the AD and coach. The police are supposed to be the professionals and they determined they didn't have probable cause. If police were wrong, were they influenced to make such a decision? If that's the case it could be even worse.

Excellent post, especially the points made in second paragraph. Depending on how we look at it, it could be quasi-nothingburger in terms of Meyer's role...or it could be WAY worse than on initial inspection.
