UNI players ready to take on Hawkeyes

I don't care, I will continue to support the players on my tean and I don't like people knocking them. unless something very weird happens Iowa will win this game!

Adrian Peterson is better than Mark Weisman.

Oh damn, how dare I knock Weisman like that?!

The notion that the uni back Johnson is the best in the state is absurd. Wiesman had 146 yards to 77 for Johnson in the last game. He was clearly more dominant. Weisman will show that he is more dominant again, and will outgain him unless his carries are very limited. Weisman for Heisman 2014!

This is a joke right? Johnson will be playing on Sundays. 6'3 230lbs and 4.5/40

this kid is a Hawkeye and he's pre season All American probably behind Iowa Oline. There is no comparison. Weisman was running against a FCS defense and Johnson against a damn good big 10 defense. Big difference.

Not only is Weisman a better back but Daniels will be before his career is over. Shonn Greene was also a much better running back. I wil stick with stick with that. Also uni will get smashed no matter wo runs the ball for them. I have not heard anything about whomever that rb is for uni, and now all the uni fans are trolling the forums trying to say that he is better when he is not. Good players lead their teams to victory, and Iowa won that game not uni.
I think Iowa wins and pulls away late but IMO you are in for a frustrating game.Your logic is crazy. Just because he plays for UNI and they lost against Iowa two years ago you jump to a conclusion that Weisman is better and every other Iowa RB? Take off the black and gold glasses. So do you think that Any current Iowa RB or heck any Iowa RB the last 10 years was a better COLLEGE RB than Troy Davis? Again I said college...Umm hell no and ISU was awful.

You're supposed to come over here to troll ... not be trolled.

You're doing it wrong.

How's their Oline? I think that will matter more.

For what it is worth, sizes and ages:

LT Rummels (Sr, 300 lbs)
LG Nank (Sr, 307 lbs)
C Rathje (So, 296 lbs)
RG Hanson (So, 295 lbs)
RT Bingaman (Sr, 291 lbs)

I don't think they are quite as experienced as they were in 2009. They certainly have solid size, and West Branch native Rummels is supposed to be a stud.

I did some looking into it and the uni offensive line is a bit undersized. The starters averaged 294 pounds. Davis and company should have the advantage against them.

Also Brandon Scherff Is the best offensive lineman in the state! Take that all you UNI trolls. Or are you going to try to say that you're 289 pound tackle is better?

Their espn page had different weights and those listed above. Still the Iowa defensive line will have the advantage and Scherff is the best!

Either you are 10 years old or you need to go dump your head in a bucket of ice water and see if it wakes you up a bit. No one in this thread is a UNI troll. No one in this thread is claiming their tackle is better than Scherff, although Rummels is a damn good player. As far as I know everyone in this thread is just as big of a Hawkeye fan as you are. What's the difference? Most of us have common sense and it appears you have none. David Johnson is the best RB in the state. Hands down. He would be the starter at Iowa if he played at Iowa. I firmly believe that. I'm as big of a Hawkeye fan as it gets, but that's just the truth. His size, speed, and athleticism is something Iowa doesn't have. Iowa has RB's with size and power in Weisman and Daniels, and they have RB's with speed and quickness in Canzeri, Bullock, Parker, and Wadley, but the Hawks do not have a RB who possesses a combination of all of those attributes and David Johnson does.

It doesn't make anyone less of a Hawk fan because they are able to see things clearly. You're just making yourself look ridiculous. There's no need to continue the BS. You're like hwk23 from last year claiming Sokol should be the #1 QB.

Guys, Hawknick is an ISU troll pretending to be an irrational Iowa fan and make himself look stupid. Reverse psychology sort of thing.

Don't feed.

We will see who is right, I say Iowa wins and rushes for more yards than UNI. Just like last time.

Come on. That is different than what you have been saying. I fully expect Iowa to rush for more yards as well. I would also have loved to see David Johnson wearing black and gold the past 3 seasons.

I just reread the thread and I didn't see anyone bash Weisman. I think everyone in here is a fan of him. I specifically said that I was not bashing him. When comparing players you can say one is better without degrading the other. That's all that's been done here by myself and others. If you can't look at two players that are pretty different in talent levels regardless of what logo is on their helmet and tell who is head and shoulders better then that's on you. As far as comparing the Olines UNI has a stud of a left tackle. Other then that I'm not too up on what they have. They like to run Johnson all over the place. Up the middle power runs and zone reads to stretch the D sideways. That schematically will put a stress on Iowas D and young LBs to make sure they read the play get to their gaps shed blocks and make tackles. I'd love to see Iowa shut them down however it really won't be as easy as some of you with black and gold glasses think. If Iowa does dominate UNI that would be an impressive thing and a really good sign for the season. If they don't and win a closer game it surely doesn't mean the sky is falling either.

Then why is everyone making such a big fuss over him then.
Iowa has a better offensive line, and 3 or 4 capable backs. We should run for more yards against UNI. On the flip side, I would say Iowa has a better defensive line than UNI. Therefore it stands to reason that no matter who you put back their for UNI, it doesn't mean they are going to run for less yards than the Hawks do on Saturday. That doesn't mean the UNI running back isn't good. He is very good, and if he were playing for Iowa, most of us think he would have a pretty big day running the ball against the panthers. That doesn't mean any of our running backs aren't good, it just means we respect Johnson's talent. That's all.

Some other interesting notes about this game Iowa has not lost to UNI since 1898. The poor performance by the SUI team in 1898 was primarily due two player dissension. That was shortly before the Ralph Blackmire player revolt. Iowa did not lose another game until 1901.

Another good sign is that 100 years ago (1914) Iowa beat UNI 95-0. The 14s shine well for Iowa in this series. More recently as many of you might remember. Iowa had an equally dominating performance vs Uni. This was in 1997 as Tavian Banks ran wild over the panthers. That is one of the best blowouts I was ever at! I look forward to the Iowa backs doing that again!

The Iowa coaching staff apparently liked Johnson better than Weisman. Offered Johnson a grayshirt, Weisman a walkon.

The general consensus is that Iowa will win 8-10 games this year and people are psyching themselves out over UNI? yikes. Gonna be a long year for some. If you truly think Iowa is capable of a B1G title then relax and trust that they will have no problem with a team from a different level of football. 4 days!

In my opinion we have an awfully tough non con schedule. Way tougher than the general public perception. We could easily lose 2 of them and still go on to a great year. UNI is a great team, if we roll them, we could have a fantastic year.
