UNI players ready to take on Hawkeyes

Ok well it's one thing to say that. It's totally another to say this "Not only is Weisman a better back but Daniels will be before his career is over. Shonn Greene was also a much better running back. I will stick with stick with that" When you admit you didn't know what you were talking about as far as who you were comparing them to..... I assume you saw some of his highlight tape? Greene only had the one good year. Greene isn't that fast and he can't catch he never could. Daniels we just don't know yet. He hasn't played much to be fair to him. Johnson has been at it awhile. If you think Weisman could make just about any of the same runs on there Johnson did your just delusional. I hate calling you out but dude you set yourself up with your ignorance. Just wish there were more level headed fans that can objectively see what their eyes are looking at.

Two points.

Hawknick even brining up a guy from 6 seasons ago was just akward, embarassing to read and incredibly stupid.

Part of what made it so stupid is that it obviously goes without saying that a winner of the Doak Walker is better than Johnson who plays in 1aa. If and untill he goes to the NFL and proves to be better there is absolutely not argument about it and to even suggest otherwise is pretty silly too IMO.

In my opinion we have an awfully tough non con schedule. Way tougher than the general public perception. We could easily lose 2 of them and still go on to a great year. UNI is a great team, if we roll them, we could have a fantastic year.

That suggests you have a relatively low opinion of this Iowa squad at this point.

6 years is nothing in the course of history. Frank Holbrook was a good runner too if you too? Now that is in the way back when files for you. If Gordon Locke were around today he would still be a star 92 years later. I also think that Duke Slater with Coach Doyle's wight training would be an unstoppable force! The only trouble they would have would be trying to make him wear a helmet.

Walter Payton was also better than David Johnson but why on earth would anyone feel the need to say it?

Your statment was completely irrelevant to any and all disscusions regarding the upcomming game.

I hope we are not in for a classic KF vs inferior opponent game.

The kind where the opponents load the box and beg Iowa to throw over the top but as soon as KF is up by 7 he will want to run the ball right at them.

News flash, it's been this way for 15 seasons under Kirk and won't change. This is what we get with his coaching philosophy. It also allows Iowa to beat any team they play. Kind of a Catch-22 deal.

UNI may be ready, but I just don't think they'll be ready enough. The season will start off on the right foot. It will have the look of a game that can go either way for a quarter or 2, but by the end of the first half or early in the 3rd, it will be clear which team is in the big boy division. Hawks will finish with a sizable lead.

I'm just saying that there has been and there are better players. I saw the guy play once and he was not the most impressive runner on the field to me. It is just one fans observation of the game. When I see Mark Weisman breaking 3 or 4 takes on one run I am impressed beyond anything I had seen in a long time. The run the following week where he just shoved that defender into the endzone with one arm was just so powerful. I don't like that UNI guy running his mouth so much and bragging about being better than everyone else. There are a lot of other good players out there. When it comes down to it saying one guy is better than another guy is just an opinion. And my opinion is that I like Weisman's running more based on what I saw. Just because your opinion may me differnt does not mean you have to start calling people trolls.

Completely agree. The national perception outside of Iowa is our schedule is easy. None of them know anything about UNI and obviously don't watch many Iowa games. Iowa can easily lose any game on their schedule but can also win a lot of the games as well. It's who they are and how Kirk's coaching goes. Been that way for 15 years.

Perception is no FBS team should lose to an FCS team but that's just not the case anymore. Many FCS programs have very talented players originally from FBS programs and it's caused parity in CFB much like mid-majors in CBB. Especially when a team plays a top FCS team. Many of the games where FCS teams are victorious are top FCS programs against average FBS programs. You won't see your top level FBS teams lose but also because they are playing bad FCS teams. Iowa is bound to lose to an FCS team sometime and quite frankly losing to UNI Saturday wouldn't be all that surprising. This UNI team is capable of it and playing Iowa at the right time. Iowa will lose to an FCS team at some point, just hope it isn't Saturday.

Tebow won a Heisman that doesn't mean he was the best qb either....
I wasn't comparing Johnson now to Greene now or their overall careers. I was saying he's a better college player. He's been extremely productive for 3 years and about to be 4. Greene had 1 good year. Imagine if Johnson had he been a Hawkeye the last 3 years..... He'd have been their #1 back hands down doing some really big things.

Your right about only time will tell on if Johnson gets to do some things in the NFL. But if he don't get hurt I'd have money on that he will. It's easier to analyze rbs games then Qbs or other positions. It's clear to see his physical ability. He's big strong fast and when you watch from the end zone camera angels you can see his quick feet and how he has good vision to hit the holes and see the cutbacks. He doesn't dance or waste steps. I've watched a lot of football in my life and seen some good players come and go. Regardless of the competition he's been up against he's got the size skills and ability to be a big time player. For those of you that have not seen him much I challenge you to do so not just this week but keep tabs on him this year...

UNI might put up a good fight but in the end there will be a higher number next to the Tiger Hawk. As for a tough non-con schedule... Hawkeye please. UNI, Ball State and ISU... 2 teams who like (or at least would like) to play spoiler and another here for a check. Sure BS put up so points last year but I can honestly say I have only heard of one team besides Iowa they played last year, NIU. Clown U will play their little Ketchup and Mustard hearts out but also the higher number will be next to the Tiger Hawk. If the Bad News Bears taught us anything, you don't have to have the best players, facilities or coach but if you work as a team you can ruin someone else's moment. I digress. Hawks roll into November like a black and gold tsunami.
