When a player who has three years remaining loses his job via injury to a player who has one year of eligibility, and the coach at the end of the year says the second player proved he deserved hands down to be the starter, and then the coach says recruiting a PG is priority, well the blood spatter writing is pretty much on the wall.
Whats your point? I try and TRY to give you the benefit of the doubt and think you just are ****** off like the rest of us that we have sucked for too long but then you turn around and make statements like this.
If you couldn't figure out for yourself that Cartwright was better than Cully from Day 1 then I can't help you figure out this game of basketball. Look back at my postings. I stated before the season started that Cully would be riding the bench and Bryce would be the starter. The injury accelerated the change but it was going to happen regardless.
Fran wants players that are going to start. Whats the point of having a roster full of reserves? We would never get any better. Cully wasn't going to start next year. Sure he would add depth at PG but we have a backup that did pretty good and will have a year under his belt heading into next year. Its obviously not ideal but you must always look forward.
If what was stated above was true about Cully then would you want that kind of personality on your team? I sure as hell wouldn't. The kid would be nothing but a thorn in my side and probably buzzing in the other players ear about PT which would create conflict. This team does not need conflict.
I would never beg a player to remain on my roster and if they were afraid of being recruited over then I would say the same thing that Fran did.
The funny thing (again assuming what was posted is true) then this makes me laugh: You're either in the gym this summer or you'll watch the guys that were when March comes around! - Cully Payne April 21st
