The best part of the whole thing is that he (Congress) is really the only way this can get solved. Pass legislation to empower schools to take all the damn TV revenue and pay these players directly and with a salary cap. Take the collectives/dark money out of the paying players business and put the schools in charge of that. Do your job, Senator, don't just bitch.

I'm totally fine with contracts. The only issue is kids under 18. If anything, make a rule that players have to be 18 to play for money and then it takes away any grey area of legality. They already have to be 18 to use a welder, run a deli slicer, etc. Yeah, it'd change recruiting, but if the rule is the same for everyone then you adapt.

NorthKC Hawk is right, we need to pay players directly, with a salary cap. Even the playing field a bit, and require some form of a contract so players don't play for four schools in four years. That's not good for their education at all.

Totally agree. These kids should get a nice chunk of the pie, and I also like that the real stars like Caitlyn Clark can get legitimate endorsement money. But, the dark money and collectives need to be removed from the game and the kids paid via contracts with the schools that have REASONABLE restrictions on transfers. There should be some freedom of movement, but not the lawless poaching and movement we have now.

Only Tommy and his buddies can get any of that done.

Plenty of Olympic athletes and other pro sports I think have athletes cashing checks while being under 18. Most college athletes are going to be 18+ so there's not a ton of kids that'd apply to.

As far a Tuberville goes he's just a grandstanding politician now. Trying to sound bombastic so he stands out and regardless of him being hypocritical on any of his takes he's gonna do so. A yr or so ago the guy somehow had the power to withhold military promotions by himself. And he did it to try and get policy in the pentagon changed in regards to abortion. I think it was in regards to military folks getting reimbursed for travel expenses. And after that time he finally gave up and got nothing to show for it policy is still the same. Just wasted a yr of like 400 peoples time that should've all been promoted.

Nobody should take his 2 cents on damn near anything seriously. Especially when there's no doubt he did for yrs illegally as a coach that he's mad about IU doing that's now legal. Regardless of the fact that Colorado is the team much more resembling what he's crying about. Indiana has a lot of starters that were 2-3 star guys that damn near any of the blue bloods coulda got. They just didn't want them

Disagree 100%. This is when I stop watching. If I wanted to watch second rate professional football made up of 23 year olds not good enough for the NFL, I will watch the XFL. College football is played by students at the school. Pay them what they are worth. That is fine. But, if they are not going to class its not college football anymore. Plus 95% of these kids won't end up being Pros. Get them a degree they can use for whatever they are doing next.

You do that with signed contracts, and if you have 17 year-olds doing it it's going to open up a can of worms with all the legal stuff. Letting parents sign the contracts isn't going to help it. Don't let them sign or play until they're 18.

Congress has the authority to make such contracts absolutely enforceable. If Big Tommy and his cronies are going to do something about it, legislation allowing for regulation of transfers is absolutely something that they could include.

My view is that you go back to the old rule of sitting out a year if you transfer. You don't lose any eligibility. That rule can be waived if there is a coaching change. Kids should have a right to change schools if they don't like the school or opportunities or whatever, but if they have to sit a year it will make sure they are not being poached for dark cash and it allows them to focus on academics during the transition year. It actually was a sensible approach to this issue.
