Tracking 2014 Class Offers

It's been discussed quite a bit he has a great chance of being the #1 receiver in the class, and now according to that list, he is.

Just curious, but have the big boys started calling yet? I'm not saying he would ever switch, but you have to imagine Saban and the like will at least call him every 30 seconds or so.

From what I've heard Alabama, ND, and LSU have been in contact. He's been on the record saying he hates the recruiting process, hence his early commitment to ISU. I still think it still looks favorable to ISU, personally, I'm not too worried. But as we have all seen how crazy the recruiting process can be, so nothing would surprise me.

I wish more kids were like this, not saying that can't enjoy it. But some kids push it over the edge.

I think LSU has been in contact for a while. Once this kid is a senior, he will have offers from all over, including from the big boys.

Personally, I would take visits to a few places for the experience but once I commit, I wouldn't anymore.. But that is just me.

I would take visits and be wined and dined by the best even if my decision was made. Let them spend their cheddar on me if they so choose. But I would be upfront that I was committed and leave it up to that coach to waste his time and money or not.

Wow, I had no idea that Lazard was THAT highly thought of.

Honestly it's very surprising to me he's the top overall WR. Not because he isn't a good player, but take a look at the last two years top WRs:

#1 in 2013: Laquon Treadwell

#1 in 2012: Dorial Green-Beckham

I see Lazard as a solid 4* talent, but the top WR? I wondered if his lack of offers was because he committed so early or just poor marketing/exposure; hard to say. I've seen Lazard in person and was impressed with his athleticism, ball skills, and size, but he's a very un-polished football player at this point. The level of competition made it hard to evaluate him as well. I'd be surprised to see 24/7, Scout or ESPN list him as their top WR.

After ISU goes 3-9 this year, he will have a few thoughts in his head. When you are returning 4 on defense in an offense happy conference...it doesn't bode well for you. I don't think the ISU offense will be good enough to outscore people. We will see.

And make sure to stay in your pipeline states. It's hard to get 5 star players from other places.

String together about 3 Nat'l Championships together, promise some B1G championships, and we'll have the #1 class in no time. It's possible, I've done it.

A couple of other updates:
-Iowa has offered LB Jimmie Swain of Lee's Summit, MO.
-Iowa has offered 4-star DE Myles Garrett of Arlington, TX.

Scout and 247Sports are reporting that Iowa has offered 4-star DB Jyaz Jones, the brother of Iowa WR signee AJ Jones, and teammate Silvester Hayes, a DE.
