Tracking 2014 Class Offers

Offers extended to date. 2014 - first column / 2015 - second column. Included Rutgers and Maryland as well.

IL 87 - 9
OSU 86 - 7
MI 63 - 3
IN 58 - 1
PU 58 - 2
NE 57 - 3
MD 55 - 4
RU 52 - 4
MSU 46 - 3
PSU 36 - 1
WI 34 - 2
IA 28 - 1
NW 20 - 0
MN 17 - 1

Obviously alot can transpire before anyone can sign with these classes but in my mind this at least indicates who is being aggressive at this stage. With recruiting speeding up I would say being early on offers is more a positive than a negative.

In my mind this is just another example of the degree of emphasis that recruiting plays in the minds of our current regime. It's a key element that needs more attention.

You do realize that these offers are self reported by the players. Unlessthe iowa 247 rep talks to a player it is unlikely that an iowa will be noted. Understanding that occasionally the national writer may send info to database for updating.

Being aggressive early is the new strategy everywhere. Including here, even though it goes against the anti-coaches slant that is prevalent on all message boards.

247Sports is reporting that Iowa has offered 6'6", 240 lb athlete Reid Travis of the Twin Cities. Travis is also a 4-star basketball recruit with offers from a couple dozen schools.

Blair Sanderson of Rivals is reporting that both Kirk Ferentz and Paul Woads visited Trev Hadachek and Jay Scheel at their school today.

Does this mean Iowa struck out on that kid from Pennsylvania at WR?

No, I don't think it means that at all. Iowa hasn't offered Hadachek (and I doubt they will), and Scheel is a high priority whether or not they get Lemelle. I don't really think the recruiting of Lemelle or Scheel will affect the other.

Iowa leads for 4 star Union ATH Jay Scheel

"Obviously he decided on Iowa and I think I'm kind of leaning towards Iowa also."

I think Iowa is recruiting him as an athlete with the expectation that he would probably be a WR a la DJK.
What? Really, I after seeing his tape I was hoping we could have us a little Braxton Miller 2.0 in the future but I suppose Kurt knows best...

Everyone is recruiting him as an athlete, not QB. Even schools like Nebby and ISU that love mobile QBs. I'm not a good evaluator of mechanics, but something must not be good enough for him to be a QB. However, same was said about Russel Wilson, so I'd love to see a QB with that athleticism.
