Tracking 2014 Class Offers

Why in the hell would Iowa waste one of their last few rides a on 2 year punter that only averaged 38.2 yards per kick last year, especially when we already have a 38 yard per kick punter on the roster that will be here for 2 more years. Just bizarre.
I'm leaning this way. Not seeing a huge need to have two junior punters on scholarship. At least Johnny "Slow-Motion" Mullings is gone.

Did you read about the punting competition he won. 55 yard punts and a 4.8 second hang time. Thats nfl numbers. Plus, Kornbrath had a case of the shanks all year it seemed like.
Did you see the kicking highlight video that Jonny Mullings had? Guy looked like a cross between Ray Guy and Reggie Roby. I'll take actual numbers from actual football games over highlight videos and trick shot competitions.

This guy looks GREAT! Special Teams as so critical.

With the way this seems to have gone down, having Chris White reach out to kicking specialist scouts (looking for punters), and then snatch this kid up in a day or two....I would guess that either Connor is moving to PK exclusively, or is transferring.

"After about 50 phone calls with coach White the last three days, I think we both felt comfortable," said Kidd, whose dad, John, punted at Northwestern before playing a 15-year career in the NFL. Kidd accepted a scholarship offer. He'll visit Iowa City for the first time next week and enroll for spring semester, which begins Jan. 21.

With James Franklin's move to Penn State, 4-star RB Mikale Wilbon announced today that he has decommitted from Vanderbilt. Wilbon, a Chicago native, visited Iowa a couple of times early in his recruiting process. Even though Iowa has a lot of RBs already on the roster, has two RBs already committed (though CJ Hilliard could play D in college; he played mostly D this past season in HS), has very few scholarships left to give out, I wonder if Iowa might try to make a run at Wilbon. He is very talented, and recent Iowa history suggests that the Hawkeyes can never have too many RBs.

Wilbon is a good player. Hard to see him wanting to join a stacked roster. Love to have him though. Didn't know Hilliard played mostly D his senior year. What position he play? Just curious.

CJ Hilliard at safety, and his brother the next year at LB. sounds good. I doubt we make a run at a tailback unless he has some blazing speed, that we don't currently have though. The earlier mention positions are much more important right now.

Well he's certainly not moving to PK. We have Koehn for 2 more years, then the incoming scholly kid from Texas. Maybe he really is leaving.

Just wanted to pass along that there are a lot of rumors that 3-star safety Miles Taylor has flipped to Iowa. According to his 247Sports profile, Taylor committed to Georgia Tech back in March but is visiting Iowa this weekend.

I was reading a thread for GT fans, and it seems they say he is a lock for Iowa. He was the first commit to their 2014 class. It seems they over recruited their defensive backfield. Probably lead to him ultimately leaving..... So, with Miles Taylor and Ross Reynolds, are we full and down to walk ons? Any news that we are still after anyone else, or that we may have any de-commits?

I think Iowa actually might be totally done at this point. With the semester having already started, we know there aren't any transfers at this point. 21 seems like a really reasonable class size, all things considered.

Welp, over-zealous recruiting following.. I am.

Thanks, jumper.

Looks like the class has a bow on it.

No NSD Surprises and fallbacks this year it appears

Wilbon committed to Nebraska today.
