Tracking 2014 Class Offers

Just about 30 minutes ago, i.e. before he tweeted about Iowa landing a new pledge, Wiltfong made a "Crystal Ball" prediction that juco DE Torey Hendrick would be committing to Iowa.

so is that how the game is played over there with the predictions? Anyway, this one has been assumed for a while I think.

From everything I've read and seen, Ross is as solid as it gets in his commitment to Alabama.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if Ross ends up finishing his career in Iowa City. Alabama isn't going to stop oversigning anytime soon, and with the number of OL in this year's class, it seems logical that that will be a place where Saban trims some fat in a year or two.

This would be another great catch late in the process. 3 Star DE and a lot of big schools offered him (Arizona State, Florida State, Kansas State, Rutgers, West Virginia, etc.). He had 6.5 sacks this year in 7 games played. Also, he is only a freshman so would have three years of eligibility left. Listed at 6' 4" 240 lbs on their JUCO team web site.

Rivals has him at the #5 juco de and #30 overall juco. Huge get for us in a serious position of need

Still not counting Okorafor out of the picture just yet.

Brian and Phil just had in house visit with him last week. Okorafor told them he was still solid with Western Michigan. Then a few days later they accepted the commitment from Ross Reynolds. I think Ross took his spot, but you never know.

Yes, with Davis, Trinca-Pasat and Hardy all being seniors next year we have some big holes to fill after the 2014 season on the D line. I wonder if Hendrick could develop in to the pass rush specialist for this coming year and then start full time his junior and senior year? We've also got Harris and Nelson also coming in as Freshman at DE so hopefully they can develop quickly.

Am aware of that but just started thinking that Ferentz always said he will stop recruiting a prospect only when the prospect says to do so. Figured since Iowa just sent representation to see him again in the last few days that apparently Okorafor hadn't ruled us out just yet. I had also read one source saying that B. Ferentz had also scheduled a return trip since.......that, and some uncertainty earlier about whether Reynolds was a gray shirt or full scholarship.

I suspect you logic is on target but just thinking there was a possibility.

I sure wouldn't be holding my breath on that one.

I guess I should say that I think it is more likely that Ross ends his career at Iowa after being a numbers casualty at Alabama than it is that he signs with Iowa next week. Probably a 2% chance vs. a 0.2% chance.

I think you are being pretty generous with the 2% and even the .2% .......

More like he finishes at UNI where he wouldn't have to sit out a year. Don't see him ever coming to Iowa, unless it's to pick up a PAULA.

reynolds still doesn't know if he will be a grayshirt or not to start his career - he did say he'll know by signing day. that tells you that they are still trying to land another guy if they do land another guy, reynolds will grayshirt.

If we pick up Hendrick and Okorafor, this would be one of the better classes we've signed in a while. Even with one of them, it is probably one of hte better classes we have signed in a while.

Why the hell would we even want a player that washes out at Alabama? Are our standards really that low that a player that can't hack it there as an OL would be offered one of our 85 roster spots? It is just depressing and frankly embarrassing that people actually think that way. Could the 7th or 8th player on their OL see PT here in average season? I think not.

I'd be more likely to go with Rivals rankings if you care about Team Rankings. Maybe 247sports as well.

Settled in @ 43 on Rivals (38 @ Scout, 46 @ 247). Not great, but that's really based off of the previous 4 win season's successes.

Looks like the class likely has a bow on it unless Okorafor (slim to no shot) jumps on.

Okorafor is done with recruiting now. Even Meyer couldn't buy him. I respect him sticking with his commitment.
