To the true Hawkeye Fans...

It is an advantage to be at home, be in your normal routine, that sort of thing. I dont really see the crowd having more of an effect than that.

I think it has an effect on the referees. I think there's some research behind this, but don't have time for to practice my Google Fu this morning.

I always thought that the idea of players playing worse on the road and being intimidated by some kids jumping up and down going "ohhhhh" was a strange one. They play on the same sized court with two baskets that are the same size as anywhere else. It makes more sense to me that the routine and familiarity of a home game would be more advantageous to the home team then the crowd.

Lots and lots of division one players have talked about how influential a crowd can be though, how much of that is them paying lip service to the fans? I'm sure at least some of it is but it's hard to say how much.

You knew what? I played at DII North Dakota not Coe and not juco.

Haha ohh my bad, please forgive me. So u don't think yer great aunts and uncles had some influence on yer play up in ND? I can see that..

Ps - Marcus smart says hello

Sewer was D2 though. Ever heard from any D2 athletes and the role the crowd played on their performance?

Since I grew up in Iowa and Grand Forks is almost a 10 hour drive away, I rarely had any family attend my games.

There were good crowds until half time at which everyone filed out and went to the hockey arena.

I remember being very critical of the 2nd half of the UNLV game in the Elite 8. The game where we were blowing their doors off by 20 at the half in a track meet. If anyone else remembers that game.

Why are you ripping him? He certainly has more firsthand knowledge than I do, and I appreciate his perspective.

Because he is a self important fan who thinks he can influence the outcome of a game through the power of his voice.

I like Sioux as a poster, but I do think crowds can make a difference. Home and away records clearly demonstrate that. I don't want to fight you though Sioux. You can suck a fat one though

Yes, home teams have an advantage, but i dont really think crowd participation has much to do with that.

Ermagerd.. Yer serious

So you actually think an empty arena compared to a sold out one has the same affect on teams and their performances?
