Tim Brando says Iowa needs two

Iowa does not have better resumes than Minnesota or Illinois. You can't compare conference records fairly when everyone doesn't play a round robin schedule.

Nice read, holmes. No one ever said we have a better resume than Minnesota or Illinois.

None of these guys are on the committee so it's not a huge deal what any of them think. I do like a voice out there countering Seth's negative comments...works for me.

While none may be on the committee, some may be more informed in how the committee operates than others. I heard Mike DeCourcey speak last year on talk radio in KC and he talked about how a certain number of sports media had been given access to the committee at one point in the off season, or whenever. He said the committee explained to the group exactly what goes on behind closed doors and how everything is figured out.

if I heard one of those guys telling me what they thought I would put more weight in what they said than what someone else said that never had that access. It was pretty interesting hearing what they learned. I couldn't begin to repeat it all myself, but it was interesting, I remember that much. What I remember was that some things that a lot of outsiders seemed to think made a difference really didn't.

An Iowa win over MSU will certainly be a better win than other bubble teams could put up this time of year. Lets get after NW and then just get a shot at ol sparty.

A lof of the teams ahead of us on the so called bubble really don't make any sense.... don't have better records haven't beaten anyone good... its pretty weird.

No, but there are a lot of people on this site using the logic "we're better than them, so we should get in". That's not how it works. If we have a gripe, it's that teams like Middle Tennessee State are virtual locks to get in when their resumes are no better than Iowa's. Comparing Iowa to Minnesota or Illinois is a waste of time.

Honestly does not matter what the talking heads think. Unless they are in the room making the decision then it is all speculation.

Sorry I intepreted this as such:

Seriously. If Joe Lunardi really believes that Iowa is not better than Illinois and Minnesota he has no business trying to predict who is going to make the tournament. We have better resumes than more than half the teams he has ahead of us on the bubble. What is the reason he hates Iowa? There has to be some kind of bias involved there somewhere.

You are right but doesn't that seem backwards? The committees job should be to get the best 37 at larges regardless of what any poll says.

Notice how I said Iowa is better than Illinois and Minnesota (eye test) but when I talked about resumes I did not mention either of those two teams because they have more signature wins. Since neither Minnesota or Illinois are on the bubble it is obvious to those with an IQ over 80 that I didn't mean them when talking about those ahead of us on the bubble. Nice try, but reading comprehension is your friend. Thanks for playing clown.

Kentucky and UNC are better than a lot of teams but it's how you play the games. You're point sucks either way.

Yeah whatever your'e trying to say here really doesn't make any sense. Let me simplify. Iowa is better and more consistent than Illinois and Mineesota. MInnesota and Illinois get lucky and beat big Indiana. Iowa more solid body of work, Illinois and Minnesota have the signature win so their RPI really high. Iowa not only more consistent and solid than Illinois and Minnesota who solidly in big tournament, but Iowa also better resume than most every bubble team ahead of them.

Now run along pipsqueak, I don't spend much time on clowns.

Sounds like resume to me.

I would have loved to hear some of those insights...but I still don't like Seth Davis. I appreciate the info.

Seriously? Here? Been reading?

No, the arguments I keep seeing are Iowa should be in because they were 2-1 and finished higher in the conference standings. But looking at the resumes it would be dumb to suggest Iowa has a better resume than Illinois or Minnesota. I think a lot are hoping the committee makes decisions off other things besides resume's, I am one of them. Call me a kool aid drinker but I think Iowa is good enough to be in the tournament. Unfortunately it does not matter what I think it all comes down to what 10 people on that committee think.

I guess I don't see your comparison in the same light.
