Tim Brando says Iowa needs two

I respect Lunardi's opinion over whoever the hell this Tim Brando guy is. It's not all that difficult to do what Lunardi does IMO, but he knows a lot more than most when it comes to what teams need to do to make it at this time in the season.

Why do you think Lunardi 'knows a lot', because he works for ESPN ? His actual performance the last 5 years has been bad. If he fails again this year, don't be surprised if their is a new 'expert' at ESPN next year.

Anyone who follows sport at all, knows who Tim Brando is. He has been a part of the college sports scene far longer than the fat little turd. (Lunardi)

How is that proven? Considering any major conference team that finishes in the top 60 almost always gets in, I feel it must be accurate enough.

There was something posted earlier this week about how the RPI gets it right like 71 or 72% of the time. KenPom was like 73% and either BPI or the EloChess was around 74%. Not a huge discrepancy, but a discrepancy nonetheless.

That's kinda a chicken and the egg argument. Do all the teams under 60 get in because the RPI is accurate, or do they all get in because the committee puts to much stock in it.

How many top 50 opponents did they play? how many did Iowa play?

If that's the answer, then how is our schedule too weak to be considered in the tournament? Joe seems to be a really negative guy toward every team. We could get a better indication from "experts" if they would consolidate all their cited statistics into one argument that doesn't contradict itself.

Seriously. If Joe Lunardi really believes that Iowa is not better than Illinois and Minnesota he has no business trying to predict who is going to make the tournament. We have better resumes than more than half the teams he has ahead of us on the bubble. What is the reason he hates Iowa? There has to be some kind of bias involved there somewhere.

I was really just curious as to the answer to the question I asked.

Lunardi in a nutshell "Forget it Iowa, you have no shot."
Dumb statement. Only fair if he says that for every other bubbler out there.

Stop comparing Iowa to MN and IL. Regardless if you think Iowa is better right now, they have better resumes.

It's pretty simple-minded to think Lunardi has a bias because he doesn't think Iowa will get in.

So, to sum it up we no likey Joe Lunardi, Seth Davis and USA Today because they tell us stuff we don't want to hear. We likey Tim Brando because we like what he has to say.

Sorry, it looks like it's 3-1 against so far.

Course, the experts didn't predict Pope Francis either.

Things can change quickly. Sat morning, fresh off a victory over top 10 MSU on a neutral court with an RPI of around 57-58, I think our press will improve a lot.

They can kick Iowa right now, but Iowa has one last chance to make a strong impression, I personally think they are very capable of winning 2-3 games. Iowa is a deep team with a lot to play for.

I would say because the RPI is accurate, it's a starting point - not the do all end all like the BCS.

How bad has it been? How many has he missed? Links?

Iowa does not have better resumes than Minnesota or Illinois. You can't compare conference records fairly when everyone doesn't play a round robin schedule.

He said they have to make the championship game. Two might be enough, three should be enough.

I bet they will sing a different tune on Sat morning after we beat MSU.

Saying "if they beat" doesn't carry the same psychological weight as saying "they did beat."

Unless other teams ahead of them accomplish similar feats.

A site records everyone picks every year, I think it is 'the bracket project'. I went to the link and it is down right now for some reason. It has 65 people on the web who have recorded brackets the last 3+ years. Lunardi is 34th and Jerry Palm is 36th for the last 3+ years. Most of the 65 are fans with blogs, and many if not most do better than the paid experts.
