This Week's Poll: Three Favorite Ferentz Era Wins

Trick or Treat, Iowa City!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGyjHOwI7JE]Iowa Hawkeyes 86 yard Interception of the Year: Tyler Sash against Indiana Hoosiers - YouTube[/ame]

If I did have to choose it be Penn State 08.

Very difficult especially when you put in "favorite" and not most memorable - when I close my eyes and think about the best games I came up with these three:

1. Michigan 2002 - It was clear how much better Iowa was than Michigan, and that made that season go from good to great and legitimize the excitement regarding the team.

2. Purdue 2002 - Kinnick rocking and freaking out after the last touchdown, just one of those favorite moments in a great game.

3. OSU 2004 - Matt Roth laying wood and Drew Tate picking them apart.

I had to go with this (in order):
2005 Cap One Bowl - Best finish ever in a bowl game (& I was there).
2002 At Michigan - Worst loss in the Big House in 40 years!
2010 Orange Bowl - First BCS Win

I wouldn't vote for this game as a Top 3, but surprised the 2009 Indiana game did not make the list. Undefeated at home, starting QB throws a ton of INT's, and then Sash catches the bouncing ball to completely turn momentum.

I was also surprised it wasn't listed. Trick or treat brought us to 9-0 and DJK on SI.

How can Michigan 2002 not be at the top? That win was way more impressive and way more meaningful than Tate to Holloway.

Can't argue w/ this logic. Watched the game on TV and was totally stoked. Decided to meet the team at the airport and asked my son (7 at the time) if he wanted to go see the Hawkeyes. He got a huge grin on his face. We expected to watch the buses drive by but KF had them pull over on Wright Brothers Blvd and held an impromptu meet and greet with a couple hundred fans on the side of the road! Bruce Nelson picked up my kid and said "How's it going little guy?" My son tried to put his Hawkeye baseball cap on Nelson's head, it was hilarious. BN was one huge guy! Every fan out there that day new the importance of this win!

Come pretty close to just saying 'What Drakebulldog said' however........

1) BCS Orange Bowl at Miami vs Ga Tech. Attended game...awesome fun
2) Wisconsin 2004 at Kinnick to win Big Ten title
2) Cap One victory over LSU, Tate to Holloway

So many great ones though........Penn St w Danno Murray kick.
Penn State win with Adrian Clayborn blocked punt
Win vs Wisconsin at Madison, Stanzi to Moeaki back of endzone...I was there
Rolling SEC foe, South Carolina in Outback......I was there. :)

Thanks. It was monumental at that time due to the state of the program, and I think games in terms of importance are relative in that regard. Probably has something to do with it was my senior year and we got to finally rush the field for a good reason!!

What was the most disappointing ferentz era game?? 06 vs ohio state? 99 or 00 last second loss against northwestern? 03 orange bowl?

This is quite a long list for me. Starts with the choke against Iowa State in 2002, losses over the years to Northwestern, Minnesota, and Western Michigan with a bowl bid on the line. Then there was game where everyone in the stadium knew a fake punt was coming except the coaches/team.

ok, now I am going to puke.

I'm shocked the Cap One Bowl won by such a wide margin. It was an awesome game, and I am very thankful that I watched that game in person. But overall since it was a non-BCS bowl game I just can't put enough emphasis on that game to vote it in the top 3. I went with Orange Bowl (1st BCS bowl win since the 50's). 2002 Michigan - how could this not be on someone's list? It's probably the signature win in the KF era. Remember in 2002 Michigan was one of the best programs in the nation still. People seem to forget that because they had a couple of bad seasons. Lastly I went with Wisconsin 2004. That was just a fun game, but mostly to win a Big Ten title at Kinnick on Senior Day, that was a great moment. I wanted to vote for the '09 game @ PSU, but I couldn't put it in my top 3, it would probably be 4th.

For me it was not about the most important win, obviously the Orange Bowl and others rank higher, rather it was about my favorite. The way Iowa beat LSU, Penn State, and Michigan State gave me a complete Hawkeye high. I damn near put a hole in my floor from jumping up and down after that LSU game and the MSU game I watched in a bar and we were all screaming. I hugged more complete stangers after the MSU game than I ever have in my life. That excitement and feeling of pure joy we all had was incredible.

just went back through the thread and i was in the stadium for every single game mentioned. Damn I've seen some unbelievable hawkeye moments in person.

Me too. I started really getting into it Kirk's first year. In 2009 I went to all of the games except PSU and MSU. I can't forgive myself for missing those.

I almost peed myself in Orlando after we beat LSU.
