This Is The Official "I Hate NIL And The Portal" Thread...

That was me and I'm just talking the bowl game because I don't think they can bring in transfers that quick to be eligible for that game.
We have 13 WRs on the roster plus 9 TEs. It's a meaningless exhibition game, I think they' be fine

7 of those have not gotten on the field at all unless it was on special teams and I'm guessing there are a few redshirts among those 13. Since it is a "meaningless exhibition game" (which it isn't, the game counts) I can't see the coaches removing a redshirt for the last game of the season. But even if I'm exaggerating the situation a little (and I was joking about using DBs) that still doesn't mean I'm freaking out.

You can play 4 games and still redshirt.

Even if Bruce and KJ left, we Have LaPorta, Ragaini, Lachey, Brecht, Vines, Wick, and Ostrenga. All of those guys have burned their shirts (this year)

Hey anyone hear any news about Proctor that we were all jumping off a cliff about last week?

NIL sucks, as it is. Replay: Pay every scholarship athlete room, (enhanced) board, tuition , fees, and a salary of $75,000 annually for 5 years. And, provide each with an electric car. Top that, Mr. Fry/Grinch!

I hate the situation where NIL doesn't work for Iowa. Translation.... KF needs to go sooner than later before it is a very difficult rebuild.

I hate (not really) the posters who clobbered me for sounding the warning bells early. More of a funny annoyance. Frankly we are getting what we deserve as fans
Hate to agree, because I generally like Kirk and respect him, but, and it's the size of Opra's, he is not the man to lead Iowa into this new age of Nil and portal football. His schemes belong in a museum, not on Saturdays. Any coach clinging to the "way we did things in the past" is no longer viable to run a program.
Evolve or die.

I thought it was fire engine guy
That came very close to being a Great White tragedy. And casinos are like labyrinths when it comes to emergency escapes. It was the hotel and casino employees who knew the quick ways out that saved a bunch of lives.

What time and what cliff I don't like jumping alone.
Proctor aint going anywhere, we could share a beer instead. Even if he did, it doesn't spell some impending doom for the Iowa football program.

We went 7-5 this season and nearly won the division with one of our worst teams in a decade. Guys, the sky is still up there and the cliff is more like a loading dock.

Worst offense in 2 decades, the defense was one of the best we've had here.

Did you miss the joke or were you making another one? I can’t tell.

"Fire engine guy" was a take from the line "Fire In The Sky" in the Smoke On The Water song.

I misheard many song lines when I was young. But the Deep Purple song is based off a true story that happened at a Frank Zappa Concert in Montreaux Switzerland in 1971 where a flare gun set the ceiling of the venue on fire.

Sounds like Iowa’s Swarm is to thank for a lot of this. It’s professionally ran and wasn’t thrown together by the seat of their pants. What if Iowa benefits from NIL? I’ve always felt that Iowa was the sort of school that hired and had good coaches that couldn’t keep up recruiting wise. This could be a neutralizer that works in iowas favor.

I think some programs are going to burn through their collectives on a small # of players, or one or two classes...and then they are going to be SOL. And some programs will put thought into stability and sustainability.

(I know the schools don't control the collectives, but I don't know how to talk about them without referring to them as belonging to "the program")

It’ll take a few years like any new market but eventually it’ll stabilize and reach an equilibrium. It’s just a matter of how high that equilibrium will go

As long as I get to say you can only take out $100/week from your retirement funds.
