The osu-isu charge call - what people are forgetting and the ref missed

The ISU player was leaving the floor and in his shooting motion before craft established position.

It was a block.

We dont even need to argue about whether craft was in the so called inner circle or had his right heel hovering over that line.

When a player going up for a layup like that is leaving the floor you have to give him room to come down and/or you cant plant yourself late in his path.

I wanted OSU to win for B1g win % but it was a bad call. But I can see why a ref would miss it as he has about 4 things to look at as in contact?, in the inner circle?, was the defender there or was shooter elevating.

I didn't think about it that way, thanks for the insight. Regardless it was a homer call but water under the dam now.

I think the refs should give those bang-bang type plays to the offensive player.

Usually the offensive player has to beat his own man or a double team and to me he has earned the drive to the bucket.

To let a defender plant as the shooter is leaving the floor and draw a charge is what should not be allowed.

There were a dozen or more calls that should've gone the other way. To focus only on the one that may have made a difference to your team is loser thinking. isu played well enough to win, but osu won it.

That is exactly how I saw it. The Clone was airbourne when Craft jumped into his path. Should have been a foul on Craft. Harsh call........

I agree!!

I thought overall the refs did a good job. They actually kept Craft and OSU from their typical 2 handed mugging of the PG all game long as soon as they cross half court. I was happy about that, as I get sick of Craft 2 hand checking all over the court.

Strange that none of the announcers mentioned that......

well believe it or not a lot of these analysts are not that smart. I am not saying I am but I am repeating what other coaches, players and refs have said over the years.

I dont think these analysts are very astute.

At minimum, the bucket should have counted.

I believe they changed the rule in college ball some years back that you never ever get the bucket on a charge call.

I know the rule was like the nba then they changed it because it was too hard for the refs to see and always get correct.

I think that rule change is still in affect

In the first half he did two hand mug. Doesn't play defense, but does do what he can get away with.
When does Craft graduate? He is getting to be a regular Scott Skiles to me.

He is only a JR, so one more year. I get so tired of the BIG officiating that allows them to do that the entire game...at least these refs stopped it, and didn't allow it the whole game.
