Tennessee hits rock bottom

Once proud program with super stadium and dozens of NFL players as alumni. Even won a National Championship back in the nineties. They can't win a single conference game, even with Brady Hoke calling the shots for the last few games. They had success for thirty years with just two head coaches in Johnny Majors and Phil Fulmer, and haven't sniffed anything close to it since then.

They will always have that one Taxslayer Bowl trophy from a few years ago.

What was Fulmer's last season's record? He was 5-7 after 9-4 and 10-4 the previous two years.

Maybe Tenn should have gave him a couple more years and hired an asst head coach in waiting.

Looks like the Athletic Department and the search committee got what they wanted and reeled in the big fish of this coaching change season.

Greg Schiano? That seems like a odd fit. Lol, why not give Lane Kiffin another shot. Relive the glory days give Tee Martin a chance.

And that was a good title to this thread playing opposite Rocky Top with Rock Bottom.

Did they just hire a guy whose defense gave up double nickels to Iowa? The Ohio State website says he is Associate Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator?

They hired a guy that saw a kid getting raped in the shower at PSU and said nothing. That's a big part of their anger, as it should be.

Campbell would be a good fit at Tennessee in my opinion since he'd be a stone's throw from Ohio.

yeah, he's probably eyeballing OSU and waiting for urban to ride off into the sunset; but he needs a nice big fat resume to do so.

I thought the same. The problem is, let's say Urban decides to retire again in a couple of years, even though he's young, you never know. Does Campbell need to go somewhere bigger to get the OSU job? Is going 7-5 a couple of times going to be good enough, knowing that this is a job that so many would want, even guys at big schools? That's why I thought he'd jump sooner rather than later.
