Badgers Take Advantage of Another Cold Shooting Performance by Iowa
Iowa is 16-1 when they shoot 30% or better from 3 and 1-9 when they shoot 29% or less.
Seems like a pertinent stat to me.Iowa is 16-1 when they shoot 30% or better from 3 and 1-9 when they shoot 29% or less.

My takeaways is that's not a good Wisconsin team. We couldn't beat them at home or away. If anyone thinks this team is about to turn it on and make a run in March in either tournament then they have some blind faith going on. That was bad bad bad.
We just don't play smart. They seem to think jacking up 3s is the answer to their problems and instead it's the cause of them. I'm not sure what you do as a coach though because at home we can make them. You can't just totally flip how you play on the road style wise. It's not like we can post up Murray or Rebraca all the time. Or dribble drive to the hoop we just aren't built that way. We are a team that lives and dies by the 3. That stat shows it plain as day.
The narrative that all Iowa does is jack up 3s and nothing else is tired. Yes, Iowa does shoot a lot of 3s, but so does nearly all of college BB and the entirety of the NBA. That is was sabermetrics has done to the game.
The last two games, Iowa has worked its offense and taken good shots. Its not like Flip or Josh O are out there bombing 3s. The guys taking those shots all shoot in the 30 percentage or above range. 90% of the shots were open looks. They just did not drop. Iowa was getting the ball low to Flip and Perkins was taking it to the hoop. We lost both of these games because we cannot buy an open look at a 3, especially our potential All-American who is playing like anything but right now.
Every team plays better at home. Every team shoots better at home. Road wins in conference are actually pretty rare, especially this season. But Iowa's shooting woes on the road are fairly epic and I hope Fran gets something sorted out soon. Teams don't host NCAA tourney games, but they do NIT......
Understatement. Pretty much half of Iowa's FGs attempts the last two games have been 3s. That's more then a lot and it's too many. Especially for a group that has shown they can't shoot well on the road. Be it the balls they use or whatever the reasons/excuses are for shooting so much worse at the end of the day the results are what they are. They should try and adjust what they do. As impossible as that may seem. Shooting more 3s that you can't make isn't the answer to problem they have. The narrative that all Iowa does is jack up 3s and nothing else is tired. Who is saying that? But, of course, teams oft shoot better at home (not always). TThe narrative that all Iowa does is jack up 3s and nothing else is tired. You just spoke out of both sides of your mouth btw. Good objective post...but let's try this. But yet you mock those who suggest it. NiceGood objective post. And yes, shooting well and winning on the road is very difficult. People need to remember that. We aren't the only team that has had some head scratching results playing on the road. The announcers made reference to other BIG teams.
But, the coaches need to examine this and see if they can do something to stem the tide when shooting is not going well on the road. Maybe try inside a little more or drive and dish, shots, or maybe get fouled. Hell, post Murry up more 6 ft from the hoop and see what he can make happen.
I wonder how many Wisky points came off our 3 pt misses. No consistent inside game as a second plan is the downfall of this team. Too many eggs in one basket.
This is a big concern, the home games will not be easy with MSU and NE, and the road game is a loss......I turned the game off with a few minutes to play. Could not stand watching us lose to a team that is next to awful. We have had some chances to prove ourselves recently, but that has not happened. Very disappointed. Our guys need to get out of their own heads. 3 tough one’s ahead of us. Two at home. What’s next?
And maybe there is a reason for shit games. We can dry erase board all sorts of alternative plays and schemes. But, we are 13 days from the start of the conference tourney. You dance with the fella that brought ya.
Maybe this is the boys getting the shit games out of their system now before the tourneys start! It worked for PS earlier in the season. Suck when the sucking isn't critical.....
I really don't know the answer. When is the last time the Hawks fouled out an opponent? How oft?Whatever offense set...sets that you can draw up to shoot lay-ups....flex...movers/blockers...Princeton....some contingency plan...please.
