Surprise Surprise the Clown...Mesa got it wrong.

It is absolutely going to survive. I know Hawk fans are praying/hoping/wishing that it will disolve b/c you think it will make you feel better about your life. But in reality they will add a team or 3 and be just fine. Not near the mess that it was last year

You do understand the difference between what you HOPE will happen, and what is LIKELY to happen.

Please tell me again why anyone would want to join that is in a BCS situation right now? If Nebraska left (you can say they were jealous), yet then Colorado leaves (they were dead weight), Missouri wanted to leave in the worst way (Nobody want them), and now A&M is heading out the door (they are just Texas little brother).......Pretty soon you are going to run out of excuses, and realize that anyone who has any other option whatsoever wants out of the Texas league (Big12).

This doesn't mean I want it to happen, it is just the reality of the situation. ISU would be better served to be working a deal with the Big East to form the first super conference. They need to get into a conference where they are an equal, not just sitting under the table like a dog settling for the scrapes that Texas lets fall to the floor......

Do you have any connections? Anyone that maybe has a little knowledge of what is ACTUALLY going on? Or do you just read some random blogs and think it's fact and than spout off on a message board? The Big 12 will be fine. Nobody is looking at leaving after A&M and they are openly looking at adding. Something they weren't looking at doing last year.

Pretty sure everyone but you is admitting that's what they're doing. You're the one talking in absolutes.

Honestly, I'm not a pathological Clone-hater. Yeah, I get a little chippy in-season around the Cy-Hawk game, but it's all part of the fun to me. I have a lot of friends who are ISU grads/fans that support the team - for their sake I don't want to see ISU football fold up like a cheap tent.

I'm saying this because I want to make clear I'm not LOL-ing at the overall situation...I'm LOL-ing at the segment of Clone fandom that is so adamantly sticking to the belief that the Big XII is a preservable union. It's a long-shot at best.

It wasn't a viable conference WITH Colorado, Nebraska, and Texas A&M...you're going to replace those 3 schools with 3 mystery schools (likely from the MWC since Pitt and ND was obviously a pipe dream) and suddenly become viable? It makes no sense! The appeal of joining the Big XII is pretty much 0 right now. Why would any respectable team from an existing BCS conference want to jump in a sinking ship right now? Same for the MWC...the MWC is pretty much a defacto BCS conference right now with their proven track record of sending teams to BCS games every other year - why would you want to jump to a conference that is clearly coming apart at the seems for the sake of declaring yourself a "BCS team"?

I don't know what ISU is going to do, but their fans need to understand that long term their home is not going to be the Big XII.

Honestly I don't care if the Big 12 survives or not as I don't have a dog in this fight, what I do find amusing though is all the clone fans with their head buried in the sand and aren't looking at what is happening around them.

If the Big 12 survives my life will be the same as if it disolves, I won't be losing sleep or anything.

I think anything is possible, and IMO the Big 12 will not exist in it's current form for long. I think that much is obvious.

However, I don't think A&M leaving is the straw that will break the camel's back. Now if you want to ask me what I think will happen for ISU, A&M leaving is very, very bad for us. It gives the SEC a foothold in Texas and it means that ISU will be recruiting not just against Big 12 schools primarily for Texas talent, now they will be recruiting against all of the SEC. That's not a good thing.

I think ISU fans that completely disregard what is happening have their head in the sand. I think Iowa fans that say "OMG LOL ur program is doooooooomed" have their head in the sand. Fact is nobody knows what will be happening. There really are only three conferences that are totally safe right now - The Pac-12, the Big 10, and the SEC. That is because they have the most money and the Pac-12 is the most isolated geographically. As with many things in life security is really dependent on your cash flow.

Now, IF the Big 12 can get BYU, I think they'd be okay. I think BYU should be open to it - they would get more money and they'd still get to use the Mormon network for all their other stuff. They bring legit football and basketball programs to the conference. IMO no other schools should be considered in Texas. SMU makes no sense. It'd be the smallest BCS level school in the country. Houston makes no sense unless you're trying to stick it to A&M. The Big 12 needs to get BYU and expand east if they want to get some stability. Big East schools get paid nothing and it would be a huge boon to their programs to get Big 12 level money if you believe it or not.

This has gotten long. My point is that the Big 12 still has options. Nothing is set in stone yet. IMO losing A&M is not as big as losing Missouri. Mizzou, OU, or Texas brings the whole thing crashing down if they leave. That's when I'll get worried.

In your opinion.

Having conversations with Pollard and other ISU officials at various events, I can assure you we will be in the Big 12 for many many years. And, this is not even close to as dire as it was this time last year. This time last year they thought we were done in the Big 12. Not this time. Everything is fine.

I guess I never understand this mentality. The Big East as it's currently constructed is the WORST BCS conference in terms of quality of play and fan support. It's honestly not debatable. Who is jumping to get into that league? Adding ISU and some other lower level BCS teams is not any better of a situation. It's less money, further travel, and no more stable of a situation because that league will always have less money then their counterparts in the Big 10 and SEC who are their immediate neighbors. Why would that be a better or more stable situation? Think about it, it wouldn't.

Do you really think they are 100% candid with you?

I will stick with what I said. IF, and I've always said IF (and I even said Notre Dame wouldn't join a conference for a while) Notre Dame joins a conference it will be the Big 12. Notice the AD never shot it down in the future? Just said that they are committed to staying independent. Which is what I said all along.

Um, pssst, he said the same thing last year when asked about joining the Big10.

Hawkeyescott makes a strong point about TX and ND goin independent but playing other sports in the big east. But with the B12 being an AQ i just dont see them dissolving completely. I dont really give a damn either way. But if Oklahoma starts fishin around............. Toast. If the b10 absorbed Oklahoma and another east coast team they would be set, not matter how "SUPER" other conferences got. I think Okie would put them over the top.....

You're impossible to have a conversation with. Troll on.

Troll? I'm having a conversation about my team in a rivalry forum. How is that the definition of trolling?

And how would ISU benefit from joining the Big East? A lot less money and a lot more travel $$$. Doesn't seem like something ISU fans should want to me.

Changes are coming. ISU had better have a plan to get into the last "super conference" (they won't be getting an invite from the Pac-12, SEC, or BIG). If Pollard really things that hitching the wagon to Texas and Dan Beebe is the best bet, then so be it. My guess is Texas doesn't give 2 squirts about ISU or the Big12 and will do what they want, when they want. Be that joining a super conference or going independent. Being in a stable conference where all partner are equals, should be the goal........not making an extra 1-2 million a year...

Nope. I think they really want to go to the Big East where there is less money and more travel. Makes perfect sense

I understand being self sufficient and getting more money and I think ISU could still do that in the Big East so really why does it matter to ISU fans to have more money and nicer facilities and be a bottom feeder in a conference instead of taking less money, not having the nicest facilities and actually competing for conference titles because I think they could in football in the Big East.

Yes the travel would be longer and cost a little more, but in todays world you would still only be a 3 hour flight from anywhere. The travel sucks for the fans, but in all honesty were not talking about 20,000 fans traveling to an away game in any sport for ISU anyway so very few fans would be affected by the longer travel.

Dang, I know there must be thousands of Golden Domers who would have loved to see the Clowns suck in their stadium every other year.

The Big East's current TV deal pays it's football and basketball schools about 3 million a year. That is nearly 12 million a year less. Jumping to a conference like that without TV deal guarantees could be incredibly damaging.

And in regard to the travel, there are a great many sports and teams that travel by bus now which is much, much cheaper than flying. That sort of expense increase would likely cause ISU to drop some more sports.
