Stanley's take on the game

There is no excuse for Nate Stanley and his play yesterday. It was the worst performance by a Hawkeye qb I can remember, and Penn State is not a good team. Nor is their defense any good. His accuracy is awful, even off target on completions, cannot make decisions, absolutely panics, even when there is no pressure. Sure he might play well against the weak teams, but who can't? He has no leadership qualities at all.

This is BS. I'm no KF apologist, I was calling for him to be fired in 2012. But in my mind Brian called a perfect game, KF did fine. This is one loss that fell squarely on the shoulders of one player. He is a college kid and sometimes they f*** up. But to blame this on the Ferentzs' is just idiotic.
Brian called a perfect game? No he didn't. My God PSU is 10th in the conference in rush defense, and he comes in with a game plan that has Stanley throwing the ball 49 times? Idiotic, period. Illinois had 245 yards rushing against them. PSU cannot stop the run and we rely on Stanley who cannot beat anybody with a pulse, and a sub par receiving group. When that doesn't work, Brian just keeps on throwing. How about the brilliant call before half to go for it? Great call, giving PSU 3 points. Kirk, Brian, Stanley all lost that game.

Over 20 years Kirk is the constant...it I what it I.

You blame the player for a terrible quarter or two. For anything longer than that, you definitely blame the coaches who let it continue.

He should have been pulled for at least a series or two.

Sad thing is that if McSorley was a Hawkeye, Ferentz would try to make him a safety or a WR. I’m glad you guys have Stanley. He is sure to choke against the tough teams in big games.
Lucky for McSquirrely PSU was the only school to offer him a scholarship to be a QB. So if KF did want to make him a safety of a wr he sure wouldn't of been THE only one.

PSU is not a bad team, as much as I hate them. That’s ridiculous. They could easily be undefeated right now. They pissed away that tOSU game, a game they dominated most of the way. Same with MSU.

Youd think they could give coaches a device for calling time outs...

Penn state got some pretty favorable no calls holding wise.

Another thing that bothers me is plays that clearly go out of bonds, occasionally they mistakenly just keep running the clock.

Tough lose after that outstanding start on defense. This team is special when they have a qb doing even an average job.

I think that's a rule that the clock keep running unless it's last two minutes of half or game.

Nate really lost a lot of money Saturday. Todd McShay was there, someone who had touted him as a potential first rounder, and then Nate laid that egg. McShay was pretty much speechless when asked about how his opinion has changed on Nate during the game.

He's nowhere near an NFL taxi squad QB in this moment and time.

is there a link to McShay's quotes or his questions? Cause I think that's ridiculous.

Stanley is just as close. 1 game doesn't change that, 2 games don't change that. They matter obviously, but don't let your needle swing so hard 1 way or the other because they don't for NFL GM's. Do you remember when Big Ben came to Iowa and threw 4 picks his Senior season and had a horrible game? He still went in the first round less than a year later.

Either you haven't watched many Iowa games--or Penn State games for that matter--or you simply don't know what you are writing.

I hope you're kidding. Running the zone stretch into 9 man fronts on a dozen occasions, does not = good play calling.

Stanley just a couple of weeks ago was being compared to a Big Ben. Only second year as a starter, raining, and his offensive line was not playing well. I've had some time and cooled down. Nate is really the only choice we have. I think he is the type of player who will come out at Purdue and be a cold stone killer. At least I hope so. I don't really have a choice. Just the look on his face at the press conference told the world how upset he was. I think he will get redemption this week at Purdue.

“Cold Stone” killer. Hahaha! That’s about right, have another ice cream Fat Stanley.

He’ll choke against Purdue too.

Keep on rowing your boat, Fat Dan. I'm sure all that success PJ Fluke has had that past couple years has got you guys riding high.

Did you watch the game?

In the first quarter McShay went full bromance on Stanley, said he was top 3 QB in the upcoming draft. Then after Iowa's dumpster became fully engulfed, Levy and Griese started chuckling and giving him shit about his statements earlier. Then McShay changed his tune and talked about Stanley missing :middle school throws."

I watch with my TV down and Dolph on - so I didn't hear the comments, was hoping there was some sort of link discussing them.
