Some telling offensive stats

What are his unbelievable throws?
And show me a bad QB that has never once made a good throw.
They all have.

Stanley is really no good at all.
Trying to find a positive about him is hard!
What... he's big? Has a big arm? Lol really? And that means what exactly?

Um, the Ohio St. game last year.

per Tom Kakert:

Iowa hasn't completed a pass that has gone 20 yards in the air in the past three games.

Iowa has had only 4 running plays that have gained 20 yards or more.
All season.

GOOD NEWS BAD NEWS

Good news is the team scored 36 points
Bad news is they needed to score 38

Good news is they were aggressive going for 2 twice
Bad news is they failed on one and Stanley simply missed WR on the other.

Good news is they scored a lot
Bad news is they didn't move the ball when they needed to in the 4th quarter

Good news is the 2 Freshmen corners are playing well
Bad news is they are freshmen playing corner and learning on the job

Good news is the D-Line dominated purdue
Bad news is that it didn't really matter because they threw the ball quickly

Good news is they have 3 decent running backs
Bad news is the #1 is the big play guy and he's seen limited action lately

Good news is the OLine has been healthy and limiting sacks
Bad news is the OLine hasn't been all that good run blocking

That pretty much sums it up.
It's not all doom and gloom and it's not all perfect either.
We shall chase perfection knowing it is not attainable. But in doing so we shall catch greatness.

Like I said, I'm not blaming anyone. It was executed very poorly by everyone, including the plan and coaching.
A few adjustments by anyone or everyone and it works perfectly!!

You can't look back after 5 yards on a longer lofting throw. No way to clear all that traffic without lofting it. It was right in front of Hokerson, not off to the side, was it over thrown? Maybe. Did Hok slow up to much? Maybe. Maybe a little of both.
Again had one or the other been slightly different, it's a td.
I'd blame the coaches for calling a great play at the perfect time, allowing a TE to be wide open with nobody within 15 yards of him. I could've thrown that ball left handed for a touchdown.. Anyone trying to blame the coaches on that play is reaching..

That play was executed perfectly by everyone on the team - Stanley's play fake was incredible. The throw was not.

Good news - Stanley can make every throw
Bad news - sometimes he misses easy throws

Right.
It's not as easy as you think. Go ahead, grab a baseball or a football and try and hit a light pole at 60ft. (Pitching mound to plate, or 20 yards).
Now make the target moving.
That's why carnival games like that make a fortune. Everyone thinks they can. Looks easy.

Seriously, there is no excuse for any qb at any level of football to miss a guy that wide open, period. He is a college qb for god sake, that pass should be completed 100% of the time. It wasn't even close, he overthrew him by 5 yards. Stanley is simply not a good qb. Sure he will play well against awful teams, but against even decent competition he folds like a tent. Even his completions are off target, and the receiver has to adjust to make the catch most of the time. Blough was by far the better qb in the Purdue game.

Blough

Seriously, you see it happen in the NFL every week. Even Rogers and Brady miss wide open guys. It happens.

I actually have really good accuracy and arm strength throwing a football (55 yards or so but inaccurate) so this would actually be pretty easy for me. A baseball is another story, I've always hated the sport

He hit some open guys.
Wow.
Bad QBs have all done that too.

My point it, he's had flashes and moments, just not consistent. The one that stuck out to me and why I mentioned the Ohio St. game was when he got it to the receiver with a guy hanging off his leg. He's had other moments this year where he's reflected players off and made a play.

Now come to think of it, maybe he does better in chaotic situations such as outside the pocket. Maybe he thinks too much in the pocket. Sometimes not thinking a lot and just flinging it is better. Not sure with him.

Right now Caddy has two posts typed and ready to send after tomorrow's game. If we lose, then Stanley can only play well against awful teams. If we win, Northwestern is an awful team.
Those are his two posts, ready to go as necessary.
