So, Trump caught a hoax somehow?

I don't need to Google it - I lived it! I'm in sales and the general malaise that there was in the economy during those years was palpable. The business owners that I worked with were always talking about how difficult it was to comply with all of the new rules that were put in place - from OSHA regulations to ridiculous rule for truckdrivers. The big companies did well as they have compliance officers and departments - the small guys couldn't grow because it was too difficult.

I remember seeing the CEO of Best Buy speak at a meeting I was at. He said that as a CEO he loved government regulation, because it stifled competition and made it harder for small companies to comply and to grow. As an American he hated government regulation because it stifled competition and made it harder for small companies to comply and grow. I thought that was profound as hell!

I'm no fan of Trump believe me, but he did unleash the private sector and it showed before the pandemic and it's still having some effect today. BTW - I thought the left was supposed to be for the "little guy".

Are those the same CEO who bankrupted their companies during the financial crisis? You know...the great Jamie Dimon's of the world? Those guys? They are a joke...the only way they aren't in jail is because the government bailed them out. They are no one to look up to or take advice from...but they swept their ignorance under the rug. OSHA regulations...yes...let's stop anything that protects a worker from a company that is obsessed with profit...lord knows nothing ever goes wrong in that scenario (see financial crisis, see mining accidents, see chemical exposures, etc).

I'm not saying the Democrats have it right all the time. I'm arguing against the false narrative that people spew without doing any research. This country did very well under the Obama administration...whether you like it or not...and the information is at your fingertips if you just do the research. Stock market performance, employment, GDP improvements, people on health insurance, etc.

You see, this is why i don't argue with the Trump koolaid guys. All you have to do is google it...in any way shape or form to get Obama's economic numbers...and the economy he handed to Trump...but you don't do it. You go with Trump's narrative. It's so simple...yet you don't even take the time...you just take the word of a liar in chief. The funny thing is that you lived through it and you still don't know his record. You are too freaking lazy to just do some simple research...yet you parrot Fox New talking points like they are real. Fox News...Hannity, Ingrahm, Carlson...are all propaganda machines. Fact check them...you will see.

Also...the stock market isn't the economy. The stock market doesn't reflect how the average worker is doing.

As stated before I'm not a Trump koolaid guy, I'm a Republican. Google it .....really. You might as well tell me to go to CNN.

Yep, everything good was handed to Trump. Everything bad is Trump did it. Dude, the stock market went up the day after the election solely based on the confidence America had from the results.

Let me explain how Google works. You type in Obama Economic Record. Then articles will show up and you can choose which to read. Don't read CNN...don't read anything from MSNBC...just read for Economic Mags, read several...then formulate your own opinion. FactCheck.org is a good source as they fact check everything against available information. Here...i did the research for you. It details the good and the bad.

Not all CEOs are evil FWIW. Some of them are very hard-working people who care about their employees. Some of them might even be Democrats (oh the horror!!).

Unemployment did drop during the Obama years from about 8.3% when he took office to about 4.6% when he left office. It got as low as 3.6% in January of this year (a low point since 1929) and then we know what happened. Today, it stands at about 7.9% - not bad all things considered. Most of the unemployed now are service workers from restaurants, hotels, etc. GDP improvements is a rather vague number to base the performance of an economy on.

A far more important measure for people like me is the labor participation rate. This is reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics every month with the unemployment numbers. This includes people that are no longer in the workforce (retired, no longer on unemployment, etc.) - in other words, a measure of how many are on the cart versus how many are pulling the damn thing. In January of 2012 when Obama took office, that rate was at 64%. During his years that rate reached an all-time low of 62.4% in September 2015. It bounced around some but it was at 63.7% in January of this year - then we all know what happened. That was a very high number (based on the total population) and was the highest number of people employed in the US in its history.

Another Fox News talking point. Why would there be large scale protests in large cities for BLM? Is it because that is where the black people live? Wow...that's amazing. I can't believe there weren't more BLM protests in Algona or Emmetsburg.

Learn to read. I didn't mention one damn thing about BLM and their protesting. I stated how bankrupt all those cities and states are.

Here is a little experiment you can do. Take a US map of the most bankrupt cities and states in America. Those in financial shambles. Take another map showing the red and blue voting results and overlay it over the map with the cities and states in financial despair. The results are telling.

And dude, as far as Fox news goes, I rarely watch it. I'll tell you what should make the Democrats nervous. I have a sis-in-law who I've debated for years as she's been a die hard Democrat. She's been a teacher for years. The last time I saw her we had a political discussion and she admitted she's seen the light watching Carlson at night and prob Hannity some. I'm thinking her husband prob had it on & she started watching it. All she commented to me was that what they are saying is often true and how they point out the lying from the left. She said it was eye opening and she can't deny what they are showing. She was a diehard Democrat. If others are doing the same, Democrats are in real trouble with their party going forward. She commented how radical they are now and they aren't the Democrats of the 1970's or 1980's. She sees the light.

Oh Geezus! You definitely have goggles on. Took a great economy from Obama??? LMFAO!!
The stock market jumped up the minute Trump was declared president in 2016. It gained more in the last 4 yrs than the previous 8. Look it up!
Hate to break it to you, but if you think the stock market doing well is an indication that the economy is doing well - look around. The market increased because they knew Trump would pass another tax cut for the wealthy, a tax cut that was unnecessary because the economy was already growing. A tax cut that would help Trump and his friends pay lower than his $750 annual tax tag. Tax cuts for corporations, did they hire more people with their additional cash? No, they used it to buy up their own stock to use as bargaining power in the future.

It's amazing to me how people like you can get shit on repeatedly by their party and enjoy it. Completely oblivious to what is actually happening.

It did NOT. The economy was stagnant. The middle east was a mess. Trade deals sucked and the US looked got ran all over in that regard. Al Qaida was strong, The Taliban was strong.

Seriously, when in the last damn time since 2016 you've heard of Al Qaida or the Taliban?

You come across as a petulant 13 year old child. Gets backed in the corner so goes to the condescending route.

Alright Mr. Google, go ahead and google petulant and condescending so you know what I'm talking about.

Trade deals sucked...well thank you for the detail to support your argument. Why...I've heard of Al Qaida and the Taliban recently. Trump wants to now negotiate with the Taliban...while they continue their reign of terror in Afghanistan. Obama's policies are the reason you don't hear about Al Qaida. We fought them for years...he found and killed Bin Laden...or did Trump do that. I can't remember? Trump just pulled out of Syria and wants to reduce our presence in Afghanistan...do you think that is going to be good for controlling these groups. His own military leaders were against these moves. Do some freaking research before you spew your Trump did this / Trump did that crap.

Trump took office in 2017 dude...so what you are saying is that Obama had it handled. I agree with you. I mean, you don't actually believe that when Trump took office, in January 2017, that he immediately changed policy and gain control of going after Al Qaida do you? Do you think the Obama Administration taking down Bin Laden disrupted them? No?

Stocks are not the economy. Biden is corrupt. Trump is corrupt. Obama was corrupt.

We keep having gigantic wealth transfers an no one stops it. Its a lot of lies on both sides. We've likely only had one not so corrupt leader in modern time and he was thought weak.

Picking on Republicans to make a point... many in the conservative right vote on one issue ....abortion...yet little changes. Look at the court nominee....woohoo..pro life...nothing will change yet she argued in defense of a frat gang rape and is there due to her ties with Scalia and big oil business. She represents men as dominant.

Argue for or against either party and while doing that both are stealing from you and you (J Public doesn't care.
You know what hasn't changed in those cities in almost 50 years? The poverty rate in black America in 1968 was 12.8% and was 12.7% in 2016. You know what else hasn't changed? They live in almost exclusively Democrat run cities. Maybe it's time try something different...the current way of fighting poverty doesn't appear to be working.

Actually 50 years ago 3/4 black males had full time job married families.

What did change was the freeway system which WAS designed in part to wall off black areas in cities. The factories moved out due in part to lack of freeway access.

When business left in conjunction with real discrimination in lending, many blacks were trapped without transportation to get to the jobs relocated in suburbs.

No jobs leads to higher crime and drug/alcohol addictions. Poorer schools. The 90s led to massive incarceration of black males. The 2000s with excess military equipment brought on police militarization.

Ya nothing changed...is bullshit.

Conservatives which includes me must at least know and speak the truth.

Tell me...are you familiar with one of the biggest mass murder in history not named Hitler, Stalin, Mao or Pol Pot? King Leopold 2. Why weren't we taught that in school?

Biggest influence of poverty. Female head of household. No college degree. Mental illness.

Go visit Council Bluffs and see whites struggling and lots of arrests. Very R area. Steve King anyone?

How about you don't "read" articles at all. Just go to websites like the Bureau of Labor Statistics and look at the numbers yourself. factcheck.org is funded by FaceBook, Google and others, so there is some bia there as well.

That's bullsh$t. FactCheck.org is not funded by Facebook, Google or any other corporation. Man...come on. They are independent of any partisan group or corporation. They are completely transparent from who they are receiving their funding. They do not accept anything from corporations. Here is the information.

Our Funding

Prior to fiscal 2010, we were supported entirely by three sources: funds from the APPC’s own resources (specifically an endowment created in 1993 by the Annenberg Foundation at the direction of the late Walter Annenberg, and a 1995 grant by the Annenberg Foundation to fund APPC’s Washington, D.C., base); additional funds from the Annenberg Foundation; and grants from the Flora Family Foundation. We do not seek and have never accepted, directly or indirectly, any funds from corporations, unions, partisan organizations or advocacy groups.

In 2010, we began accepting donations from individual members of the public for the first time, responding to many unsolicited offers of support from our subscribers. We launched our first public appeal for donations in April 2010.

At that time we also decided to disclose our finances in greater detail, so that our readers may judge for themselves whether or not any of those individual donations could influence us.

Our policy is to disclose the identity of any individual donor giving $1,000 or more. We also disclose the total amount, average amount and number of individual donations under $1,000.

Note: In addition to the sums reported here, FactCheck.org receives in-kind support from the Annenberg Public Policy Center including office space, utilities and technical support from APPC staff. We do not attempt to assign a dollar value to these in-kind services, which are funded from the APPC’s own resources.

LOL...Council Bluffs is a really good example of "Republican area" that is struggling....that's funny - I suppose if you never left Iowa you would think that. By comparison, CB is a damn nice place!

You want some Democrat areas that are struggling with homelessness, crime, drugs and poverty - here's a few - Detroit (my company has a plant there and you can't stay near there because you can't go out at night past dark or you'll get shot - a coworker got shot at a Burger King at lunchtime), Chicago, New York, San Francisco (unfortunately in the 80's it was one of my favorite places - now - just don't go there), New Orleans (smells like piss everywhere you go), Los Angeles (homeless camps larger than Council Bluffs! - piles of human shit on street corners - no middle class - it's nice if you're rich!), Seattle (another one of my "old" favorite places - now it's like the heroin capital of the world), Baltimore, Washington DC (I was in Baltimore and Washington DC last weekend - holy shit - those cities are train wrecks, although the harbor in Baltimore is nice), Boston, Philadelphia (my home office is there so I have to spend way too much time in that rat infested cesspool with some of the rudest people on earth)....do I need to go on?

Every place the Dems have been in charge, sucks! Most of them top the list of worst places to live and to do business. People that can, are leaving these places in droves and moving to places where they can enjoy a higher standard of living without all of the high taxes, high crime, bad roads, corrupt politicians, etc. 1.4 million people have left New York City since 2010. 1500 people a day are moving to Florida from the Northeast.

I'm sorry, but the facts don't lie - look at population density maps, crime statistics, growth areas, etc. My only hope is that these people leave their bullshit politics where they came from. You know..."don't Illannoy Iowa"!

Amen, brother. Trump won the county in which I live by 25 points in 2016. It's a terrible place. Liberals, stay home. You would hate it. It's horrible. STAY HOME.

At the end of the day, I don't really give a flying F what the feds do as long as they leave a healthy level of autonomy to local folks. If cucks in Illinois want to sit home cowering in fear while JB the Hutt bosses them around, good for them, just don't send some edict from DC saying I can't send my kid to his charter school or that we can't run our little league because of a germ that has virtually no impact on little kids. If we get one more on the SCOTUS and she doesn't turn into some batshit insane lib, things will be just fine for the next decade or two. My kid has dual citizenship so I don't give a flying F what the shitlibs do after that.

Really? You only chose the "introductory paragraph" - which seemed to support your argument that they don't accept "corporate money" (funny you did it that way!) Below that they show the breakdown for each quarter. Facebook has been their largest contributor overall, giving about $507,800 over the past year but Google was the largest last quarter. If you want to see other quarters, I can copy and paste those, or you can go there yourself. You have to ask yourself, why would Facebook and Google pay them so much money? Weird, huh?

This is copied right from their website:

Fiscal Year 2020, Fourth Quarter
(three months ending June 30, 2020)

Annenberg Foundation: $44,063

Google: $100,000

Facebook: $87,265

Individual donors: $30,181

During this three-month period, we received a total of 675 gifts from individual donors, the largest of which was $2,000. The average individual donation was $45, and half of our individual donations were $20 or less.

In addition, we received $100,000 from Google to support FactCheck.org’s COVID-19 coverage, and $87,265 from Facebook as part of a national project to debunk viral deceptions circulating on social media. Donors have no control over our editorial decisions.

The individual donors who gave $1,000 or more in the fourth quarter:

Leighton Moss, Houston, Texas: $2,000

Donald McGee, Mukilteo, Washington: $1,500

Hmmm...missed that. Sorry...my fault. I stand corrected. That being said...Facebook is likely doing it to seem unbiased and support the facts. They have taken alot of heat for leaving false claims on their pages and on instagram....and not taking them down.

I tell you what...read what they say...and how they evaluate fact checking and let me know when you find something not factually correct. I've seen several publications rate them as "CENTER" meaning they have no political leaning. Now Fox would attack them...because they parrot every lie out of Trumps mouth.

Trump lies all the time. Christ...he lies about stuff he said on tv...or in press conferences. It's on tape. Why wasn't he taking hydroxichloriquin during his Covid illness? He pushed that like a drug dealer. He didn't take it.

My point is that you don't have to listen to me...but you can't only listen to Fox or Trump. Go to an independent source...they are out there.

To each his own...Chicago, San Francisco, and New York are three of my favorite cities. It's also interesting that all three states are donor states. Those states pay more in federal taxes than they receive in services from the Federal Government. Your so called Republican / Red states are all upside down in regard to paying their share. Talk about corruption...Kentucky, McConnell's state gets the highest payout in federal aid compared to what they pay in. How does that happen.
