Silas Redd and other PSU transfer hullabaloo

Kahri Fortt, a talented LB expected to compete for the starting MLB job is transferring to Cal.

Hope he'll delay his decision a couple of days. I expect the transfers to go from a trickle to a flood over the next couple of days. Easier for him to make the decision to go then.

Re: Silas Redd

This is the part that rubs me the wrong way. Could care less about what Silas Redd wants to do. However, here you have some "former" walk-on that busted his a$$ and did whatever he had to do to get on scholly and now his getting it yanked from him? Symbolism of the scholly aside, USC is outrageous to attend.

Kiffin is by far the biggest scum bag in CFB. Chip Kelly might be 2nd.

Read on another board the dude is now looking at about 100K in bills because of the lost scholarship.

Lane Kiffin is Bobby Petrino illegitimate kid. King of all DB's.

OH shiz....who wants to read entirely too much into this?

Clocks ticking.

I heard on the internet (which must make it true) that he is waiting to announce that he will transfer to Iowa after his summer classes. What we need to watch for is if he practice on Aug 6th. If he shows up for practice for PSU he can't play for Iowa in 2012.

USC, which was sanctioned by the NCAA in 2010 over improper benefits, is at its limit of 75 players, so a spot would have to open up for Redd to transfer to the school. USC believes at least one player will be academically ineligible, opening up a spot for Redd. The backup plan would have a walk-on giving up a scholarship.

Take that to the bank!

I'm not sure about this, Iowa is currently at their 85 as is every other school, however the NCAA granted a waiver to schools that allow them to go over their limit this year and this year only. Meaning if a school takes a PSU transfer and they have more than 1 year of eligibilty left then that is 1 less scholarship to give next year.

So Iowa could take a PSU transfer this year and have 86 scholarship players this year, however next year they would have to be back at 85 if the PSU transfer is back and wasn't a senior.

It's the troof. Iowa can go over 85 because they aren't currently on sanctions.
