SIAP: Ulis Decision Friday Night, 7:20 p.m.

Okay, so do people actually believe there were shady things going on here? There is no conspiracy here, there is nothing shady going on.

Here is what happened. Iowa was going to get Ulis, hands down, I don't think Izzo had any chance because he didn't start recruiting him and maybe it was because he had family connections with Walton. That said, I think if Izzo had been recruiting him when Fran initially was he would have been a Spartan a year ago.

Now how did Iowa lose Ulis? It really is pretty simple. Kentucky is Kentucky, if Ulis is a three or four year player for them, he will likely win a National Championship, how important is that? Will Ulis sniff a NC at Iowa? It is an easy question to answer really, I have accepted the fact that Iowa will not win a NC in my lifetime, if they do it will be that much sweeter. When you compare the on court success of the program like Kentucky to Iowa well, it is comical the differences between the success of the two programs.

I still don't believe this was a kid only decision because of what the dad said all along, but oh well, it is not a shocker by any means and Iowa moves forward. If this is the last top 30 recruit Fran loses a battle with then he has put the program on a level we have never seen before.

This isn't that hard to figure out. It is ironic that TM is trying to excuse this misbehavior by citing ethical concerns. These sleazebags are covering their butts using the same sense of decency they're spitting at.

Makes me sick.

Again, where's anything even resembling proof? If it were as simple as Kentucky coming in and offering extra benefits, then why didn't they offer a scholarship to Ulis right away, instead of watching him include UK in his final four without an offer?

Why do you spew this crap? You really think Kentucky did something illegal to get a top 40 player away from Iowa? Think about what you are saying.

How is this not registering with you? It went through the old man. UK whiffed on their top targets, and suddenly pops lets them know that they're available for a price. Squid's not going to be embarrassed on the recruiting trail, and we know Fran's not offering anything under the table, so, in a matter of weeks, he is offered and verbals.

Keep in mind, sport, that UK was not on his list in May. However, he magically shows interest in UK, gets an offer, and commits in less than 5 weeks. That reeks of crap, and if you can't smell it, sucks to be you.

Also, here is a lovely quote from Old Man Ulis on why he froze out Illinois:

“Illinois recently reached out to us concerning Tyler. It would be tough to go that direction because they were going another direction before. We respect that. I didn’t know the reason they hadn’t approached Tyler. We were told they weren’t going to recruit another point guard in 2014. Once Tyler did what he did , Coach Groce reached out.”

So they froze Illinois out because they didn't show interest in him before he blew up in the summer, but UK shows up at literally the last minute, and suddenly pops is changing his tune, and shacking up with a team they didn't have interest in during the spring.

What scumbags.

How does the fact that you think things went through his dad makes the absence of proof any less relevant?

I guess I'm just not the kind of person who's willing to label someone a scumbag without have a good, concrete reason for doing so. Not suppositions based on circumstantial evidence.

I think I'm with you here. But the extent to which father Ulis was involved was wrong, and potentially dangerous to Tyler. To see Tyler transfer out of Kentucky after one year, perhaps to Iowa, doesn't seem out of the question (that is, if the UK commitment was James' decision and not Tyler's).

Exactly. With all of the talent he's had over the years, he has exactly ONE national title to show for it. Most overrated coach in the country.
 
kentucky is in the final 5 for 2014 PG dante exum

australian pg -- would be up there with mudiay and jones if a US player

ulis may get recruited over even before signing day
