Shimonek leads team to state title game.

I compared Iowa players at the same positions
as for Burke he was rated "15th" BEST at his position and compared Gesell "13th" BEST to show the possible potential success, no where did I try to compare the #1 pg in Paige to Gesell 13 best for pontential.
I simply used 2 players of equal value for examples, isn't that the whole Idea?
as for Stanzi and Shimonek if Stanzi that was rated in the 90's can have success why shouldn't I compare the 2 as both are Iowa players and Shimonek is a slow return to higher ranked QB recruits

Short answer in my opinion is "no". But if you want to do that, then that is fine. That is your right, your opinion.

I don't see how two guys in different classes who play in different regions of the country have an direct relation as to their rankings.

Maybe when Stanzi was a senior in HS there were alot of good QBs and Stanzi developed his skills later on while on campus for 2 years. Maybe Shimonek isn't in a class with alot of good QBs and he has peaked already.

Either way ranking of players from different classes my make sense in your mind but it doesn't in mine.

I remember those incessant Burke to Gesell comparisons he used to drop on us. I notice he doesn't do it anymore now that Gesell's numbers are nothing compared to Burke's.

can't compare the 2 now as Gesell is playing the 2 as well as the 1,
no longer a viable comparison, between 2 pg's
and to date Gesell #'s
9.4 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 3.4 apg and 1.4 spg
can't compare the 2
burke also avg 36.1 mpg playing the point vs Gesell 25.1 mpg splitting time between 2 positions.
Burke was the only option at the point for Michigan,
this is not the case at Iowa with Clemmons stepping forward

But you could compare them this summer??? got it

In the preseason last year, Burke averaged 13ppg, 5apg, and 3.6rpg.

Also, this might be the stupidest thing Herby ever wrote. Do you think if Clemmons was on Michigan, Burke would get his minutes reduced?

I am guessing Clemmons would have redshirted.

one more time,, this summer Gesell was going to be the starter at pg "all season" now that Clemmon has taken over as the starting PG. the comparisons stopped. can't make it any clearer than that.
but way to hijack a thread

I don't follow?

the thing I like best about Shimonek is his ability to run a offense that is run orreinted
his team avg'd 273 yrpg and Shimonek passed for a avg of 182.5 ypg, for a total per game 455 yards.
for over 7100 yards of total offense.
Iowa fans would kill for that type of offensive production

No, he was going to compete for the starting job. You annointed him the starter for the whole season before he was actually practicing with the team. You compared an incoming player to one of the best PGs in the B1G last year, all because they had close rankings on their positions in their respective classes.

coming out

Was to be according to who? You??? So are you admiting you were wrong?

I thought that MG would start but I didn't think he would even come close to TB, that is the kind of player that excels in his true freshman year and makes everyone take a step back and say wish he was on my team. I wish he would have gotten crazy and went to the draft.
