Shame on PSU grads

If giving money to an organization who enabled and covered up the actions of a known pedophile doesnt weigh on your conscience it makes you a rotten human being. not understanding what makes it wrong makes you really stupid.
By that logic, you have just absolved Americans of paying taxes. SOMEwhere in our government there have been criminals for whom other officials covered up. Probably even a pedophile or two.

someone help me

It seems there are two types of people in this thread. Those that think everyone involved should be persecuted, and those that think anyone who wears a PSU shirt should be persecuted. I choose to seperate the two. I don't blame PSU folks for defending their school which probably does the right thing 99% of the time. I only have a problem with those that still choose to defend the likes of Paterno who was clearly involved.

Defending the indefensible is indefensible.

If this was happening at Iowa I wouldn't set foot inside Kinnick for a long, long time, and I sure as hell wouldn't be upping my donations.

Not sure I agree with your use of the word "persecute", boat, but otherwise your post is solid.

Even if nobody involved was still around and the school that means alot to you was about to sink into Bolivia?

As I said, I don't view the donations as a defense of what happened. That is obviously indefensible and anyone that does that is a ruhtard. The institution of PSU is defensible though, and that is what most are doing.

There was ample hippie lettuce at the Roger Waters/The Wall show Tuesday night.
You prolly wouldn't have fit in...not really a Buble crowd...

Yeah, bunch of sweaty 50 year old dudes busting out their old tie dyed shirts from 1976 is way cooler than a bunch of hot MILFs who just read 50 shades of gray for the 9th time. :)

But that's YOUR choice. Nobody is forcing you either way.

Why do we CARE what PSU alums do vis-a-vis donations?

i mean seriously. this is a turrible analogy.

the equvilant of what happened at psu would be if kf knew satterfield was a serial rapist of underage girls, helped cover it up, then gave him the keys to various campus buildings and looked the other way while he volunteered for a mentor program for underage girls.

It's actually a very good analogy. You just don't get it.

On what basis do you stake out the moral high ground?

And where in hell do you get off calling out on what someone does with their OWN money?

It's none of your business, you idiotic tool!

Get a grip on yourself, Bob! Don't make any personal attacks, or le Diesel will crack your skull with his hammer o' ban.

To answer your question, I can easily and comfortably stake out a slice of moral high ground over psu fans who have donated to the football program since the sandusky story officially broke.
They are giving tacit approval--and funding--to a group of people who have irreparably harmed many young children.
So yeah, you're goddam right I think I'm better than those people...because I am. Demonstrably. I think most of us in here feel that way. I don't get why you have adopted a laissez faire, live-and-let-live attitude about it? You're a stand-up guy, by most accounts.

I don't CARE what PSU alums and fans do with their money. If they want to continue to support the school, that is their call.

Would I continue to support the U of Iowa under like circumstances? I can't say for sure.

But I don't buy the "they are tacitly supporting pedophilia" argument. they are trying to move PAST it, possibly.

Your assertion that you are "better" is pure fantasy. NObody is "better" by mere affiliation. Now, if they were donating to a Sandusky appeal fund, I could agree. But neither you nor I know that to be the case. IF you were right, would that mean I should have stopped supporting Iowa basketball over the Pierce situation? I know, I know, two different scenarios, but the principle is the same. Iowa coaches/staff "negotiated" a way out of that situation.

As to banning? I know of at least one poster who has gotten past that "roadblock".
