Shame on PSU grads

typo 100,000,000.

tm thats a joke right? football at psu is the financial engine for everything. someone who donates to a non revenue sport reduces the burden that sport places on football. that donation might as well have been directly to football. it would have made no difference.

You clearly don't read too well. Seriously, did you make it past the headline? These figures were for the ENTIRE university, not just the athletic department. And ONE guy donated half of it (which did go to athletics). If you want to chastise him, fine. But don't pretend it was all about football. This is the 5th year of a seven year fundraising effort by the university, not the athletic department.

No, you are right these people are giving money because all they care about is Penn State football. Obviously they do not care that a little boy got sodomized in the locker room. Give more money so they can paint the walls, that will make it all better. The team needs to win, no matter what the cost is!

Horrible analogy, not even close to the situation that has happened at Penn State.

Your premise was that donating money to a program when someone knows what illegal activity went on means they support that activity. So which is it? Either money given to an athletics program supports known illegal activity at a university or it doesn't. If it does, then you support rapists and don't care about the women getting raped. Or are you trying to claim that donating money = approval only in one narrowly defined situation (PSU/Sandusky)? In that case your argument holds little weight.

If that illegal activity is sodomizing kids then I want no part of it.

Evidently you have knowledge of some kind of cover up at Iowa of illegal activity, you care to share it? Perhaps if these truths come out I will be to embarrassed to spend anymore money on Iowa athletics. Did an assistant coach witness Norm Parker banking a kid in the locker room, is that why he had to retire?

I will bite on this one also. Right now we have no idea to what extent the cover up took place, all we know is it went all the way up to the university president which leads me to believe a lot more people may have known what was going on. If I am sitting here with a boatload of money to donate I will at least wait until all these facts come out before giving the Penn State general fund a dime.

Again, you are totally illogical. It doesn't make any sense to say money to AD = approval only in one limited circumstance.

Ofc it does not make sense to you. Obviously you think having little boys sodomized in your locker room while the football department, AD, and the president covering it up is completely acceptable. It is good to know if this ever happened at Iowa you would still be a loyal donor.

Let me repeat I am ok with all these idiots donating this money to Penn State. After all the victims deserve every dime of it.

how many times do I have to say I'm referring only the money donated to the athletic department before you can understand it?

And you talked as if all of the 200 million went to athletics, which was not the case. Also, in the case of the hockey team: that donation elevates the club team to varsity. Meaning that the guy is ADDING a sport that football will eventually have to cover for financially, not lightening the load, as you suggested.

this is just all fail. i said repeatedly i was only referring to the portion given to the ad. i said that at least three times. if u didnt understand thats on you brah.

So you think the actions of a few dirtballs is an indictment of thousands of individuals over decades? Should the women's soccer team quit so they aren't supporting the AD?

I have problem with alums that refuse to admit JoePa was dirty, but donating to the institution AND the AD is not a big deal at all.

If giving money to an organization who enabled and covered up the actions of a known pedophile doesnt weigh on your conscience it makes you a rotten human being. not understanding what makes it wrong makes you really stupid.

You didn't answer my question. The PSU baseball team helps the AD. Should they quit because they are (in your mind) supporting pedophiles?

Not understanding how to separate the two makes you really stupid.

By that logic, you have just absolved Americans of paying taxes. SOMEwhere in our government there have been criminals for whom other officials covered up. Probably even a pedophile or two.
