Scott Frost...

Dude WTAF. Who does that?

That might be the douchiest thing I've heard of in quite some time. Your team is where you came from, not where you moved to. Only possible exception is if your kid gets a scholarship to a rival institution.

They obviously decided and chose that it was easiest to live among weirdos than to go against them, so, they hopped on the bandwagon. Ironically, 25 years ago was about the last time Nebraska was relevant.

agree 100% - I think it's ok if we discuss the going arounds in the conference, but we often times have 3 or 4 lil Debbie posts going a week. It DOES have something to do with them being 0-6 tho

IMO its 100% on the Nebraska fans. It is a fact to state that Minnesota has more football national titles than Nebraska. Do you hear Minnesota fans talking about how they're still a blue blood football school? Do you hear Minnesota fans talking about how they're one coach away from returning to the glory days when they won 3 straight national titles and 5 titles in 8 years?

No, because annoying as Minnesota fans may be...they realize those days are long over. They get it. They just hope to occasionally be relevant like Iowa and Wisconsin currently are.

Thats why Nebraska deserves to get made fun of. Nebraska fans legitimately think a head coach can transport them back to the mid 90s and make them just like present day Alabama. Nebraska fans legitimately think schools like Iowa and Wisconsin are beneath them. The reality is that the NCAA football landscape has changed dramatically and left schools like Nebraska forever in the dust. Sure, Nebraska will compete again. Nebraska will eventually win a Big Ten West title at some point. But their fans honestly believe they can and will return to the glory days of the 90s. They deserve everything being thrown at them right now.

I generally agree that its a bad look to keep obsessing over Nebraska. But as a Hawkeye living behind enemy lines for the last 18 years they get a little old and schadenfreude sets in. And they're so predictable. You raz them and they're like "hur de dur, how many national championships do YOU have?!!!!" Its like... so only Gopher fans can make fun of you because they have more NCs than you do.

BTN is obsessing over the bottom feeder fuskers. I've never seen a 0 fer team get sooooo much publicity. I guess when you've been blown out of proportion from the start you most certainly deserve to be made fun of by everybody. BTN is still hanging in there kissing the fuskers but waiting for the B1G revival to happen. That's embarrassing to me. Come on BTN stop your butt kissing. It's not becoming of you.

I'm going to defend the BTN here, it's still a big story. Nebraska was brought into the B10 because of their football prestige and in the 8th year they have started 0-6 and last season they were 4-8. They were brought here to bring national exposure to the Big Ten, and they are, just for the wrong reasons.

I like that their fans look down their noses at Ferentz and what he's done and accomplished at Iowa because of what their program did over 20 years ago. Instead of recognizing that Iowa and it's program has adjusted to the times and climate of major college football like they haven't.

They like to to say things to Iowa fans like "You accept mediocre football, you're happy with winning 7 or 8 games a year, at Nebraska it's not acceptable" and "You pay your coach 4 million to win 7 games a year" . They like to poke fun of his contract and I think in some cases it's warranted. But, it hypocrisy at is finest. They don't understand that when they hired Callahan, they were still paying Solich. They don't understand that when they hired Pelini, they were still paying Callahan. They don't understand that when they fired hired Riley they were still paying Pelini. When they hired Frost (who makes 5 million a year and more than KF) they were still paying Pelini and Riley. Who exactly is bad at coaching contracts? Don't tell me we accept mediocre football when you're program has had 5 losing seasons to KF's 3, and 2 of his were in his first 2 seasons.

They like to bring up Ferentz's buy out and contract length - which I find ironic since their 0-6 coach has a 26 million dollar buy out. They are just as obsessed with Iowa as Iowa fans are with them.

They are getting exactly what they have coming for them. No one enjoys it more than me. Period. No one. I hope they lose every time they take the field.

Well I think that is old news and you are correct they are bringing national exposure all for the wrong reasons so why magnify it. They don't have any prestige and should be snubbed just like any other loser.

I have a coworked who is a Nebraska fan, and I literally heard this verbatim last week. Do they go to a class where they all learn the same rhetoric?

Also from that coworker: "People are poking fun now, but we have the right coach, and as soon as he gets things going Nebraska will be right back as a perennial top-10 team."

I actually think Frost will get Nebraska fairly salty eventually. They seem to be playing hard right now (if not smart), and they are challenging from an offensive scheme standpoint. As long as he can stay stocked in QB-talent, they will be a tough out and will probably compete for the upper-half of the west with Wisconsin, Iowa, and NW.

I've always maintained that Iowa is not HAPPY with winning 7 or 8 games a season, but they do accept them because there are worse things. Like going 0-6 or having 5 losing seasons out of the last 14 or having no identity and getting smashed on national television every weekend. Iowa's expectations and contract with their coach are right in line IMO - I think KF is worth every penny and he reminds us of that every year. If you just look at what other programs do around us sans WI that are on similar footing and have the same geographical disadvantages to Iowa and I wouldn't trade places with ANY of them. Maybe Notre Dame? But I hardly call them in the same tier as Iowa and they recruit at a different level. Iowa is in a great place as a football program. Can it be better? Yes. Am I satisfied? No, but it definitely could be worse. We're kind of spoiled.

Twenty-five years ago I had in-laws move from eastern Iowa to eastern Nebraska. As they crossed the Missouri River they threw out their black-and-gold and proudly adorned themselves in red-and-white and cheered as loudly (and as arrogantly) as any life-long Husker fan.

So yeah, I give myself permission to be obsessed with Nebraska’s historical failure and epoch dismantlings by my Hawkeyes.

Are they still your in-laws? I'd a kicked my bi-atch to the curb. :)

I’ve tried and tried but she won’t stay there. :D
She’s from the other bank of the Mississippi River where it was Da Bears — Illini we’re ignored.

So she just kept becoming more and more a die-hard Hawkeye fan. She despises the Huskers, Badgers, and Buckeyes as much as I do and the Clones as much as those three combined. (I can’t. I have familial ties to ISU and Iowa)

It's still a story and it has interest....I mean here we are on a Hawkeye blog talking about it.

We're making fun of them. We're not pumping sunshine into headlines. I think that's a huge difference. It's ok ssckelley. Your opinion is correct and so is mine. :)

Make no Mistake, it wouldn't matter if it were any B10 team. We are just marveling at the flames of a dumpster fire.
Plus, it wasn't just a few delusional fans. It was all of them. It was the coaches and the AD flapping at the lips.
