It's not gimmicky. Frustrating as helll at times, but not gimmicky.
HawkeyeGamefilm mentioned play earlier in the year where 4 defenders had the angle on him but he outran the angle..I didn't realize the dude ran a 4.3 40. No wonder we couldn't catch him on the corners.
You are right...geez...perfect post. Barkley has never had big days against anyone with great athletes (USC / Wisconsin / OSU). He's a once in a lifetime back. At 230, running 4.3 with an incredible football IQ...and Wadley-like cuts...you just can't contain something like that. The problem last night is that they ran 100 plays on offense or something like that. Hence the yardage you morons. Our offense was the problem for 3 quarters...not athletes on defense. They had 15 points with 2.40 left in the game. Last time I remember that was the key stat for winning games.
Don't blame the D for the inability of our offense to sustain anything close to a decent drive. Two reasons for Barkley's performance:
(1) Iowa's lack of athleticism in their defensive schemes caused by their
(2) lack of athleticism on defense
And vice versa.
How is it gimmicky? Shit, if you can give up nearly 600 yards of total offense and hold that team to three touchdowns with a less athletic defense, that's pretty damn impressive.

Gimmicky. If you keep typing it, it will make it no less accurate.
Overconservative, sure. Predictable, still too often, yep. But it's the opposite of gimmicky.
Yards between 20's, tough to score. It may be old school, possibly outdated, but it's not gimmicky.
You say weird stuff sometimes.
Did u listen to the commentators? The were puzzled. Alabama is conservative. Iowa repeatedly early ran into PSU strength and baited them. You never see defenders box a guy in flatfooted except Iowa. Call it conservative if youd like. Hawks had the horses to when straight up. In my weird style I think what they asked of Wadley and Jewell was coach abuse.
I made an argument, and because you have no idea what you're talking about you dodge me. It's an old school idea of bend-but-not-break, and you know what? Take away any one of numerous offensive or special teams mistakes (Wadley fumble, blocked field goal, PAT, etc.) and we beat the number 4 team in the country and the best running back of the last decade. That's a scheme I'm happy with. Either make an attempt at an adequate response or just don't respond at all.If you cant see it I cant help. Let me answer it with a question. Why does Iowa consistently give up career days? Why in bowls does Iowa get smashed by mediocre offenses?
Watch out man, Saquon Barkley carrying the entire PSU roster on his back might just be "coach abuse"Yep, but none of that is gimmicky.
Coach abuse? Holy smokes man.
We can agree that the offensive playcalling/philosophy was not good, especially in the first half.
If you find another poster or any other individual that considers the strategy "gimmicky", id be surprised.

We had better contact the ACLU.
Iowa's D kept the game close?? How many punts did PSU have? If Iowa's D did anything, it was to uncover a flaw in PSU's offense: They can't push the ball in short yardage situations on a short field. If you are going to get caught up in the 573 yds Iowa gave up then there is nothing I can say. The Iowa D kept that game close.
Seems I could very easily say the same about you.Don't blame the D for the inability of our offense to sustain anything close to a decent drive.
"lack of athleticism on defense"??
With all due respect, your comment makes it crystal-frickin'-clear that you know absolutely nothing about football.
Are you seriously kidding me? Did you not see the game Nelson and AJ played?, did you not see Josh Jackson make those plays? Did you not see Jewel play like an All-American warrior??!!!

Geeze, PSU used the same strategy Iowa should've used to win the game: time of possession.
Iowa can't win these types of games because Iowa doesn't have the athletes..doesn't use the athletes.
Athletes beat a system approach on offense or defense every time.
