ryder cup

I watched quite a bit of the Ryder Cup. The Monday singles matches were a lot of fun to watch. The European fans really get into it. Of course I wanted the US to win, but getting a close, entertaining competition was most important.

The US team never does well in this. It seems like the European team really performs well and likes the chance to play agains't the "Big Brother". The US Team has all the big name players and the European team always has a few obscure names...Luigi brothers....that rise up when they get a chance in the spotlight. As golf is an individual sport, for whatever reason, the US golfers don't do well when it comes to playing as a team. Not sure the US players like each other all that much and dont like being paired up. If it was individual match play thruout, it might be different.

I'm disappointed in Pavin. Your last guy needs to be a guy that has withstood immense pressure. He had to think that if America was going to win, it would be close and come down to the last match. Put someone in there who has been through it and succeeded. Put Tiger or fill in the 12 spot. You put Phil at 10 anyway so why not go with 12? I love Corey Pavin but he's not the "captain" type IMO.

I see what you are sayign with Pavin, but you almost have to front load the line-up to get back into it. I don't have a problem with Mahan going in the 12 spot. If anyone blew it, it was Stewart Cink, had chances on 17 and 18 to win the match. Plus, all of this is doesn't matter if Fowler doesn't birdie the last 3 to give us a chance.

I suppose that's true but on the flip side your front doesn't matter if you can't finish. Yes, Cink blew it. I don't know why you put Tiger where he did. Sure, he isn't playing that well right now but he is arguably the best match player of all time. I would have put him last and I would have put Phil 1st. No one handles pressure like Tiger. I don't have a problem with the strategy as much as I do Mahan. He has never proven to withstand pressure well. His wins are come from behind when there isn't pressure on him. I love Mahan, but he's not the guy you want the whole Ryder Cup on. Ricky Fowler is going to be around for awhile. That kid has some guts.
