Rumor About Eno Lying To Iowa Staff

I think we should get a pool going on who's next. This thing is in runaway train mode and I don't see it stopping. I'm not going to require tranquilizers like some of you folks, but it's the truth nonetheless.

Peyton Mansell, Matt Hankins, and Josh Turner are all good friends of Benjamin, so I'm calling those as first to go Two of them are from Texas (the only 2 left from Texas, by the way, where we were supposedly kicking ass with recruiting). Brandon Smith had visits scheduled before Eno got shit canned, so he's my pick for number 4.

The remaining kids are all Iowa and Illinois local yokels, and only one of them is a position player.

And for anyone who doesn't think this doesn't have the potential to be devastating, google and read up on what Mack Brown did to Texas. It ruined that football team and the Longhorns are going to be paying for it for a long, long time. I wonder what LeVar Woods is thinking about all this wasted effort.

I've said this on another post. If these guys are leaving because of Eno then they're followers, not leaders. The evidence points to Eno at least being partially to blame for the whole thing. First he sings hallelujahs about the Iowa program to get other kids to come here. Now, after probably getting his hand caught in the cookie jar so to speak, he's trashing it and these other de-commits are falling for it.

If they fall for Eno's schtick then it's probably better off they never don a Hawkeye uniform.

Maybe there's more to the story....

The whole not putting your name to a story/quote/rumor just gets old... People want to just gobble up that garbage. Once in awhile what's put out is true. But usually it's a game of telephone where only a part of it has any truth at all... I wish that most of that crap wouldn't get tossed around but that's not going to happen. Too big of an audience just loves gossip.

Based on what? Cause we start lots of true freshman and we run a pass happy offense?? Our two best receivers of KF's era weren't even WR's coming in. They were QBs that were turned into WR's. Top ranked Wr's don't come here because the scheme doesn't involve them catching the ball. It involves them blocking.

Then you better be content with 7-5 and 6-6 seasons. Maybe you are, I don't know.

Whether you like it or not, recruiting is a diva contest today. If you want to get the best players you have to put up with drama queens plain and simple. None of us here are going to be able to change that.

Harbaugh, Saban, and Meyer know that it's inevitable so they use it to their advantage, and guess what? They win consistently. Harbaugh doesn't whore himself out on twitter and work the chains at high school football games because it's fun, he does it because it gets on ESPN and kids are drawn to the media attention.

KF also knows it's inevitable, but what does he do? He declares that he'd rather go down with a sinking ship than let a player have even 1% control over themselves. He even said in his interview the other day he's not changing anything. So if you're of the old school that says,"By god these kids are gonna sit down, shut up, toe the line, and do whatever the eff we coaches say or else..." you're going to be stuck with in-state 2 stars and a whole lot of Foster Farms in your future. This isn't 1968 anymore.

If they had any courage or drive, the WR's would all see a HUGE opportunity to start as true freshmen. But they are scared of the opportunity because no one is coming with them. Aww.

Bullshit. Would you want to go someplace where they don't throw the ball and play with a QB that has zero college experience? Nobody even knows if he can pass effectively. Other than the spring game and garbage time during games he's never seen the field.

I'd be scared to death to be a wide receiver at Iowa.

Then they were followers to come here when they committed cause he was a big part of that. Not every single person in the world is a leader. Eno was selling the program just like the coaches sell the program. They listened and liked the option of playing along side their buddy. Nothing really wrong with that if they feel at the time that it's their best path.

Probably because I'm:

1) Not an alt
2) Don't post mindless drivel
3) Not repetitive and tireless in the pursuit of bashing KF and/or the program

Now...I ask, how the hell have YOU survived the various purges here?

Surprise surprise. He marketed for us when he was with us. You expected him not to do the opposite? This is exactly what I expected he'd do, why pulling the offer was a bad move, and why you hedge your bet by picking up somebody else instead of pulling the offer.

If the offer isn't pulled and he flips last minute, he doesn't have three months to dismantle your recruiting class.

Eno is replaceable -- the whole class is not.

I've said this too. They should have played nice until the end and if he signed, great. If not, oh well at least he didn't take the class with him. Eno is DJK. DJK helped win a lot of games but didn't fit the mold. Kirk would rather not have those kids. It's not that he doesn't want to win. It's that he's nieeve enough to think you don't need DJK's and Eno's to win. And technically he's right, it just really stacks the deck against you.

If their #1 consideration as to where they want to play is where their fickle friend wants to play then that's pretty sad.

But didn't they make it clear it was more complicated than that . . . you know, something to do with coaching integrity and indentured servitude??

I missed the part where I said it was their #1 consideration. And go back to when you were 17-18 yrs old. Bet you did or wanted to do a lot of things your best friend(s) did sooooooooo.......welcome to normal human life

It shouldn't matter though if its a former recruit or another coach trying to lure away guys that have already committed, isn't that the same thing we do when we recruit players that have already committed elsewhere?
