Ross Pierschbacher

Tapping out on this one, folks. When you start speaking for an entire fan base and me, it's not worth the time or energy.

I'm getting more and more to the point around here where I will just post information and content and get away from discussions just like on social media. My friend, Jon Miller, is on to something.

Carry on.

We need your pragmatism on here Rob.

I am far from an expert on o-line play, but maybe RP was a 5th rd. talent, regardless. It wasn’t like Alabama didn’t coach him up(double negative) but everyone gets my point.

My guess would be Daniels and RP would have played on the o-line together if RP chose Iowa. And it could have ended up the same way: Daniels a 2nd rounder and RP a 5th.

I have problem with everyone just assuming he would have went higher just because he put the Iowa uniform on.

We are assuming that because there is so much evidence to suggest it. I'm not sure anyone thinks its absolutely guaranteed. But a lot of people thinks the odds are really high that he would have been drafted higher. Clearly RP is naturally talented. His recruiting ranking and the fact he started for Bama is evidence of that. If he had the work ethic (also very likely he does) he almost certainly would have been drafted higher at Iowa.

This basically sums up my opinion on the matter as well. Bama is no chump at O line development, but they start with a better mold. Iowa is a master class on O line fundamentals and concepts. There just isn't really anybody out there that does it better or more consistently.

Rob fits right in around here. He can't stand hearing other opinions.

I can't put my finger on why he feels so strongly that Bama was for sure the better choice. Now that the results are in I believe a strong enough case could be presented to counter that.

With Rob knowing the family maybe its possible that 5 years ago Rob personally suggested Ross jump on the Alabama opportunity.

That's the only angle that makes sense to me right now.

True that. But seems like it’s more of a wish he fails since he chose otherwise. I, like you feel if he came to Iowa he would’ve developed/drafted higher. Unlike you I wish him nothing but the best as he’s Iowan like myself.

Why should it matter where he is from? I don’t give people extra credit for being born/raised in a state since it isn’t something they have control over.

It is really amazing that so many posters have determined how RP should have lived his life. Get over yourselves.

Twice recently people have had perfectly reasonable posts and he responded bitterly. He's clearly burned out with it all. I don't blame him. But it's pretty clear he is.

Sorry PC, but I hardly think it is your position to determine Rob is burned out.

Or, he could have been Blake Larsen and never developed at Iowa. See how this works?

Well that could have been the case before we knew that Ross indeed was intelligent with a good work ethic, but we already know that now. Knowing those things allows us to move our hypothetical situation into the usual success zone. We obviously wouldn't in good faith compare him to a wash out, but nice try man.

what baffles me is how in the wide world of sports some of you posters think that you are in a position to evaluate how well Alabama develops players. If they didn't develop players they'd be very inconsistent and have a lot more losses. They have very high standards there and their W/L record shows it. And they have taken on and whipped a lot of elite teams over the last 10 years.

Maybe. Or he is Gettis, Boettger(sp?) or countless other mid to late round o-lineman that KF has sent to the NFL. I don't know enough about the intricacies of o-line play to say he would have been a special talent if he had come to Iowa.
