Rivals 2013 Class Rankings

I can't wait to see Niang try to defend Woodbury next year on the block, or defend anyone on the block for that matter.

And vice versa, I am curious to see what happens when he is trying to defend Niang on the perimeter. Most intriguing matchup next year IMO.

It will be an interesting matchup. Iowa might be the tallest team in the country while Isu likes to play small but Woodbury will never be guarding Niang on the perimeter.

He will be in the lane in the middle of a zone.

Who cares!? It's ONE game. A lot of bickering about two opposing players who will play in one lousy game and only matched up a small percentage of that particular game.

This response should have been directed at the cyclone fan who brought up the comparison and made a big deal out of it.

As an Iowa State fan I would be thrilled if iowa played zone the whole game.

That's what I thought when I read about Wood being in a zone. To run a 2-3 zone against Iowa State would have to be one of the most boneheaded coaching moves I can think of. You guys would love it but it would be an absolute nightmare for us.

Last year I would have agreed with you both. But with all of the graduations in the ISU back court, I like our chances in a zone. Especially early in the season.

And last yr how many people really expected isu to bet just as good after all the losses they had from their previous lineup. Hoiberg is developing a style similar to miami heat. They are playing a pick and roll/pop 4 at the 5 spot and putting enough shooters on the court to really spread teams. Now they won't always make 40% of their threes but playing zone against the lineups they use wouldn't be that smart. The best zone would be a very spread out 1-2-2 match up or a 3-2. The only thing that might allow use to pull off a zone on the lineups they run is the length we can have from uthoff or white at the 3 and marble at the 2. Along with the quickness of a gesell at the top of the key. But a zone is playing into what isu wants long range shots.

We don't need to play zone against Iowa State. We had one of the best 3FG defenses in the country, we can shut them down straight up.

First off, do yourself a favor and watch Matt's highlight video of his final high school game (posted below). Enjoy the free seminar on how to use your reputation as the best three point shooter in the country to score at will on your mid-range jumpers. How many three point shots do you see in there? Thomas is hands down regarded as the best shooter in the country. You act like he's purely a three point shooter. The kid is 6'4" 190 pounds. His all around game is pretty dang impressive. Impressive athlete. In my honest opinion he's much quicker than Jok and just seems to be more fluid. I'm no NBA scout just my opinion.

Both have bright futures. Time will tell... The experts seem to think more highly of Thomas seeing he was a top 50 caliber player. We will see.
