Rivals 2013 Class Rankings

I think it's funny all year long the guys mentioned above Hawk fans said were overrated and not very talented. Misfits. Transfers. After they graduate? Irreplaceable!

I guess we're comparing 18 year old young men who haven't even graduated high school to 23 year old men. I never said he would walk right in and replace Babb or McGee. ISU will rely heavily on their frontcourt next year who are both potential All BIG 12 candidates in Ejim and Niang. Programs go in cycles and you depend on new players.

Go back and look at Clyburn's and Babb's and McGee's credentials coming out of high school. How do they compare to Matt Thomas (top 50) and Monte Morris (Mr. BBall Michigan)? Hoiberg has had much success with much less accoladed and talented players. He's starting to put more talented players in his system and four year players at that. He already has another highly accoladed guard signed in 2014 in Custer and showing promise that he may reel in one or two more big fish in 2014. Sorry ISU fans are excited. I think it's funny all of the chatter about ISU bball on the Iowa board. The topic was 2013 recruiting classes and the focus immediately shifts to ISU!

And you guys mentioned earlier you'd never trade Jok for Thomas? Well the experts who make a living doing this disagree which is neither here nor there. No one knows yet these guys have yet to enter college. What I do know is NO one ANYWHERE would trade our prize recruit last year for yours! Niang or Woodbury that is flat out laughable!

Um. Are you joking? Im honestly not sure there is anyone in the country who would take Niang over Woodbury long term.

Niang is a more polished player at this point but he is way smaller yet similarly unathletic. Woodbury is only scratching the surface of his upside at 7'1 while Niang is already maxing out allot of his potential at 6'7.

Has this question been asked other than on an Iowa or ISU board? Nobody knows what the rest of the nation thinks.

Shooting mid range jumpers does not get you to the freethrow line.

Aaron White and Marble dont get to the freethrow line by shooting mid range shots. They get to the line by driving to the basket.
I'll try and explain it as best I can (my opinion). If a player has the ability to score in the 5-15' range, post defenders can't sit under the basket and wait for them to drive the lane. Help defense becomes more complicated. The F and Cs have to step out and challenge them as the get inside the FT line. That causes fouls. If all you could do was make layups under the basket, Bigs would just camp out down there and wait for you. A pull up 10' jumper is hard to defend from the help side. When e run Marble off of a screen and he gets inside the FT line, guy are stepping out to challenge him. That's how I see it.

Wow is all I can say to that - wow! Even my Iowa friends can admit Woodbury was as overrated a recruit Iowa has signed in quite awhile. Woodbury may very well develop into a solid player by the END of his career. He is no where near that right now. NO WHERE near that.

Georges Niang just turned in one the best seasons by an ISU freshman ever! He is ALREADY a tremendous player. The guy is being talked about as a potential All-American his soph year (link below). I will eat crow if I'm wrong someday but at the moment I don't see Woodbury being talked about as a potential All-Conference player ever and definitely not before his senior year...much less an All-American.

I'll take four great years from Niang over mediocrity and potential for a solid year or two all week and twice on Sundays!

Who else in the country besides a Hawk fan wth his head in the clouds would take Woodbury over Niang. Absurd!

I'll take a player who has the potential to contribute immensely on both sides of the ball to a player that can do nothing but score.

There's that word again. POTENTIAL. He sure contributed immensely on offense this year with his four points per game and on defense with > 1 block per game. Game changer right there!

Why you ducking me? Still waiting for you to back up your predictions about Niang 18-20 PPG.....

Think he'll get to 18 ppg. End of story. Reference the above players' deveopment any rational person can see it's not much of a stretch to jump from 12 per as a fresh to 18 per as a soph. Don't beat a dead horse.

All you are doing is beating your dead horse about Niang around here. Why should I stop if you don't? Either put up, or STFU.

LOl.

Great years don't consist of getting owed in the post on the defensive end.

By their Junior years Woodbury will be the much more impact full player.

He draws most of his fouls close to the rim.

White has no mid range game whatsoever and draws all of his fouls going to the rim and throwing his body into people.

Mid range game is great if you can shoot like Carmelo Anthony but not very many people can hit those shots consistently enough to be very effective.

He'll be more impact full huh? Woodbury will be lucky to average 10 by his senior year so I'd say Niang is actually quite a bit more IMPACTFUL right now and will be in the future.

Who owned Niang in the post? The best pure center in the game this year was arguably Jeff Withey. Not only did Niang completely mess with his head by dragging an excellent shot blocker away from the rim because of his ability to shoot the three and put the ball on the floor...but he actually outscored Withey every game this year.

Game #1: Withey 13, Niang 15
Game #2: Withey 13, Niang 15
Game #3: Withey 15, Niang 19

Please find me a big man who owned Niang. Woodbury actually reminds a bit of Jeff Withey. Well, minus the incredible shot blocking ability, the coordination, the ability to jump, dribble and score. He sure is tall though!

Niang is a good player, but JFC you sound stupid as sh!t in this thread. Comparing Niang to 7' center??? For the love of God just STFU. This is why I can't stand clown trolls on this site. I actually like Niang, and think he is a good player, but listening to your sh!t is making me dislike him.

!

I enjoyed this post for this one line, as if Withey was somehow completely confused about where he was or the direction his life if going on all because Niang was playing out near the 3 point line. Jeff was never quite the same after that day.

Agreed. Apples and Oranges. Niang is a fine player, a probably 3 or 4 that played as a 5 sometimes. Just because he played a 5 sometimes doesnt mean he is a 5.

He played the five for the entirety of big 12 play. He may not be a traditional center but a center he is.

LMAO. You're just grasping at straws son. Woodbury clearly has a much bigger upside. To argue with that means you are either stupid or dishonest.

I can't wait to see Niang try to defend Woodbury next year on the block, or defend anyone on the block for that matter.
