Reading Lips

A deaf person with significant training can achieve lipreading comprehension of 60%. The English language is harder to lipread than many languages - 35% comprehension is considered excellent. Pretty sure OP has absolutely no clue what any Hawk was saying. We've all read the troll crap many times though.

I highly doubt that we said that. We were just athletically outmatched yesterday. My only complaint, well, "Major" complaint is why is Canzeri not getting more touches. I love, love, LOVE watching Weisman run over guys, like, A LOT. But, Canzeri obviously needs more touches. As far as JR vs CJB? idk, they both have plus and minus, so to me its a wash. Im not qualified to evaluate college level QB's, and neither is anyone on this board. Ill trust Kirk.

I think canzeris touches are limited sometimes because he has a problem hanging on to the ball. The coaches said that is why he didn't play much earlier in the year and he again had problems in the first half.

He dropped the ball once, and it didn't count. He should have had double the carries he got. DB should get 0 carries, and I would've liked to see Daniels get a look. I love MW, but running him on that stretch play against LSU is ridiculous.

It's not like the backup being a better option NEVER happens. But I remember going to Iowa games and hearing fans calling for Christensen over Tate.

How'd THAT work out?

Anyone know what CJ's major is?

Heard the announcers say that Ruddock sometimes doesn't have time to watch film as he has to study. Good for him for being a pre-med major but he's not here on an academic scholarship.

HOW DID THAT WORK OUT?

Remember when everyone wanted Vandy over Stanzi in '09? That worked out great, too.

At least Banks did get playing time and did well in most of his opportunities. People had a legitimate beef there. But Christensen/Beathard? Yesterday was the first time CJB looked better than bad all season. He'd shown very little to suggest he'd be an upgrade over Rudock, just like Vandy and Christensen.

The tight ends got open several times, but we also had far more success throwing to them. The wideouts, other than Powell, struggled to get open all day long. Hence the lack of completions to wideouts. We might have had slightly better luck with Beathard today, but I still stand by my argument that nobody was going to have a good day today under center. Between the weather, gameplan/personnel decisions (needed more Canzeri to get LSU to respect the ground game more) and the wideouts' inability to consistently create any separation would have made things ridiculously tough for any QB.

A big reason that our passing game was even more meager than usual was that we couldn't reliably pick up 3 yards running.

We got real luck that one didn't count, because that was a fumble, and I am pretty sure the ball was out before any forward progress whistle was blown.

I agree, but to bench the guy for one fumble seems a bit harsh.

I agree the extra year made Jake a better choice to start the season. QB is a complex position.

But whether KFz is open to change, or stubbornly married to Jake remains to be seen. We certainly know the #1 question going into Spring ball. (along with replacing the Linebackers)
Uless Jake takes a big step backwards or gets hurt,he will be our starter. Hopefully he gets better with the year of experience.. But we have seen in the past where that is not the case. Its good to know we have a capable backup if he gets hurt. I agree he has better physical tools but I thought the same thing of JVB over Stanzi.

This is a big point. We have seen this all year. JR doesnt seem to be able to throw the long ball. He is pretty good at the short game but we wont have much short game if we cant throw long. And we cant. Jon has said he has the arm but its a timing thing. I don know. But he needs to fix it by spring or we nned to look at CJ. He may not be as smart but who is ? He also would give us a QB who can run. We have a good line ave RBs great TEs. I think the young recivers will keep getting better under Kennedy. I like Jake but the offense didnt really score a point yesterday. I said we would need two big plays to win. We got em but offense laid a big zero. Bottem Line
Powell had his man beat for a TD. Rudock under threw him.

While arm strength isn't Jake's best attribute, he also wasn't really getting his weight into many of his throws yesterday, including the deep ball to Powell. I do think his knees were a bigger problem than we were led to believe, and like others have said, I won't be shocked if he has some surgery in the offseason.

He wasn't benched. He played more in the second half than he did the first.
Bad choice of words, but he still only got 7 carries for 34 yards. MW got 18 carries for 37 yards. See the difference? So while maybe he wasn't benched, I think he was used less. Someone suggested maybe it was due to a fumbling issues. I personally would've liked to seen him used more until he lost one.

tm I just dont think he has been able to hit the long throws all year. Anybody on here knows I am slow to question the coaches. But I think you have to look at Bethard if this sint fixed in the spring We could have won that game. Against a good SEC/ LSU team but we couldnt score 10 points.

I agree, he struggled with it all year. But even guys who require good timing on deep balls to compensate for a lack of arm strength can get hurt and have it affect their throws. Rudock might well have connected on THAT pass if he had two good knees under him.

Im hoping Danniels makes a big jump because even thow I like JC & MW they are both just average backs

JC is a good change of pace back. He could get the ball anywhere from 10 to 15 carries and be good. He averaged 6 yards per carry this year. Granted that number is inflated due to the horrible Purdue defense, he still is very solid. I am hoping LD makes a difference this year, but I would bet serious money that MW will be the bell cow at least at the beginning of next year.
