Racism unique to only Iowa within the college ranks?

African Americans have just as much of that as I do. Actually many have more of that than I do.
So again how am I white privileged?
I bet the African American coaches right at the University have more of those things than I do. Lot's and lots and lots of African Americans do.
Isn't Oprah like one of the richest people in the United States?????

Smart people are smart privileged. Athletes are athletic privileged. Rich people are money privileged. Porn stars are big D privileged. There is a lot of privilege in this world. It's just weird that such a big deal is made of white privilege. Do any other races feel like white people are privileged? I know Mexicans get shafted pretty bad in this country, but for some reason it's not discussed.

I bet Oprah doesn't get pulled over and they think she stole it.
I bet I have had more trouble with and been pulled over more than Oprah, Denzel Washington, and Obama all put together.
Can I then assume they have black privilege?

Wouldn't be surprised if they have been pulled over because they were black... before they were famous.

"paying attention" lol... yeah that's all they do. Like when I was driving with my buddying college - Ivy league captain of our basketball team. Cop put a gun to him and forced him out of the car. I've witnessed something like this twice in my life.

That's exactly what the problem is... you are guilty because you are black.
What did they get convicted of? I've got some pretty crazy cop stories too. But just to be clear, I recognize that cops are harder on black people. I just also realize black people are harder on cops. I feel bad for your friend. If he's a good dude, it sucks balls that he has to deal with that shit because of the relationship other black people and cops have created over the years. If he does stupid shit too, then I don't feel sorry for him because he is part of the problem. If I had a black kid, I would teach him to be overly nice to cops and go out of his way to show he's not a threat. But guess what. I have white kids and I'm going to teach them that too.

True power in the world is the result of wealth and having control of government.... Yeah having a big dick or being able to dunk a basketball can give you a good life and good money.

But those aren't the people who control the nukes or can buy countries or place fake dictators.. or control medical care to millions.

I just don't get the whole "pulled over because they are black" thing. It seems to me that there are WAAAAY too many black people to just pull them all over because they are black. Do they set up checkpoints where they corral all the black people and let the white ones through? There has undoubtedly been times where people have been pulled over solely for being black. But really, how often is that the reason?

You pretty much already answered your own question on this one earlier.

We just had a black president. The president of the united states is considered the most powerful man in the world. There have been countless other very powerful black men in this country too. I educated myself on a video the other day where this black guy was saying "show me the bad white people that are holding me down. I've never seen one". Then he listed all these powerful black men and ended it with "hell my doctor is black". I completely agree it's a little harder to be successful if you have black skin. But it's way harder to be successful if you come from poverty.

Say you could flip a switch and turn off all systemic racism from white people towards black people. How long would it take for black people to take advantage of it and get equally(ish) wealthy to white people?

Now say you can flip a switch and make a majority of black people stop feeding into the negative part of black culture. How long would it take for white people to notice and quit having unconscious bias against black people to the point where systemic racism ended and black people became equally(ish) wealthy to white people?

In my opinion, I think the second scenario would get black people on equal ground considerably faster than the first scenario. But clearly the fastest way of them all would be for both sides to flip that switch at the same time. I think this movement has flipped that switch for a lot of white people. I just hope black people are ready as a whole to step up and take advantage of it.

Yes but my point here was how often does it really happen per person? I know I've specifically been pulled over for being young twice in my life that I can think of off the top of my head. Has your friend been pulled over for absolutely nothing way more times than that?

Ok good job out of me, I got the link. It's a long ass article but seriously worth reading.

I also did a little looking up on "excited delirium syndrome (EXD)". It seems there is quite a bit of controversy surrounding actually diagnosing the condition. It is accepted as a condition by the medical forensics community, emergency first responders, and law enforcement. It is not generally accepted as a diagnoses in the medical and psychiatric community. It is criticized as a catch all condition, used for quick evaluation of individuals who present as agitated and are possibly mentally ill, on drugs, or impaired by long term drug use or alcoholism.

People often present in an agitated state to first responders. If your arrested in an agitated state or evaluated on the spot, than you have a record of former drug use, mental illness or that is forensically confirmed or evaluated after the fact, than you have EXD. The problem is how the subject reacts to first responders becomes a big part of the evaluation of whether the subject has excited delirium syndrome. It's very easy for circular logic to get involved here.

You are just playing games now. You are somewhere between covert and outright. I hope someday I hope you understand.

I thought it was ignorance at first, giving the benefit of the doubt even after he said if blacks didn’t like it here to pay for them to go back to where they came from.

With more commentary, I’ve skipped from ignorance to outward trying to be covert.

Rob you write for a living so I refuse to believe you really think that was the point of my post. But really, I haven't seen one single "interesting point" response from you to anyone who has even a slight variation of your opinion so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Not agreeing with you 100% = racist in your eyes. So counter productive.

Good post and the article I linked touched on that a bit. Still tho, there were quite a few examples of people dying in very similar fashion to Floyd who didn't get their neck knelt on for 8 plus minutes. One was a black cop kneeling on a white guy.

You don’t want to see. People have tried to explain things to you. You act like you’re a victim.

You’re doing a poor job with the covert act. I’d have more respect for you if you would just admit your racist. People like you are the most dangerous when it comes to ending racism.

So funny how two people can have the same opinion on racism and think so differently on who's dangerous to stop it. What you are doing is feeding into this so much that it's going to make black people more racist towards white people. How does that help end racism? Hell if I was a black person and had to deal with the stuff they deal with, I'd have a grudge against white people. If I was a black person and not only dealt with all that stuff, but also heard all day every day how bad white people were, I'd down right hate them.

Why not point out the good white people are doing? Why not constantly send the message that we are moving in the right direction and we are still working to make things better? How is that not better than cramming it down everyone's throat how bad white people suck, causing black people to hate us more? Do you not see even a little bit how that can divide a country even more? I want all white people to like black people and all black people to like white people. I think the path people are trying to use to get there is going to have the exact opposite results. You say I speak up on it because I'm racist, but I speak up on it because I think its dangerous to all races involved.

Again, the covert act isn't working. You love whataboutism which is why you've been outspoken on here that you don't like the word. You're a racist posting anonymously on a message board. You're seriously worried about black people hating you more? Good lord.

It's somehow a bad thing to want black people to like white people? What kind of world have we turned into when it's a bad thing to want black people to like white people? I could have sworn you were gunna say "I see your point, but...."

No. I don't see your point. Like I said, the covert act doesn't work for you anymore in my eyes. You're a racist.

That's absolutely not fair.
I ask questions all the time and it's not whataboutism it's to try and get someone to see from a different angle. To step outside themselves for just a second and see something objectively.

Yea but that's idontwanttoseeyourpointism.

I have known gay people my entire adult life, every step of the way I have been logical about it. I ask straight people how would you feel if...... Now recently Trump signed something saying that public funded Catholic services adoption can refuse a gay couple. Go ahead research it and tell me how you would respond.
That would be a great exercise for white, black, Mexican, man, woman, basically anyone who is not gay.
Sharpen that axe you have to grind, because just about any answer or opinion you give is going to be wrong. It's going to be right, but it's going to be wrong too.
