QB battle

I thought we could make this thread for the upcoming QB battle. I was really hoping we'd make a bowl game at 6-6 just so we could hear about the younger QB's during bowl prep.

Who do you guys think gets the nod at QB? Do any of the freshman actually have a chance?

I personally think KF will narrow it down to two by the start of the year and those will be Sokol and Beathard.

Are we 100 percent sure that JVB doesn't have any eligibility left? Because he would give us the best chance to win.

I think Sokol wins the job. I really do, nothing against Rudock but I am done thinking he is going to win the job based off his recruiting hype.

CJ Beathard will start Game 1 for the Hawks in 2013.

This would be awesome if it happened in my opinion. I guess I am just a sucker for a 4 year starter at any position but the QB position is great. Then again I am sure if he struggles anyone who hates KF will say that he should have started another QB and the team would have been better so they can fuel their fire campaign a little more.

May the best kid win. I'd say this is the ultimate crap shoot. Unless a poster has insider info from coaches or players there's no way of knowing who's got the leg up or playing better day to day come spring. Fort Kinnick is pretty hard to penetrate. I have a feeling spring won't settle this battle and we won't know till late August so this will be a fun running topic I'm sure

^this. Unless you know something the rest of us don't, none of us know very much other than hs or juco stats to predict the starter. Who knows

It's very un-Ferentz like to start a Freshman QB. I think he starts with Sokol, and if he struggles CJ has a shot if he performs really well in camp.

I dont think we will ever see KF start a true freshman at QB. Drew Tate started as a sophomore after having taken only a handful of snaps as a true freshman backing up Chandler in 2003.

Not a huge difference between that and a RS freshman starting.

Ghost derp will likely claim he knows though and will tell everyone they are stupid and wrong with whatever they say.

It is also very un-Ferentz like to turn the job completely over to a jc transfer, even if they are really talented and the next year is runner up Heisman....

To the OP, what KF did this year with no others getting snaps when things are going well is pretty weird. Expect the unexpected. Not necessarily exciting, just unexpected.

Well ok then, ill lighten up on ghost derp for the time being. Within hours he will be back to being the dean, one upping everyone, and telling everyone how dumb they are. He is in your hands now.

If CJ is as talented as Drew Tate, then yes, he has a shot. I have not seen much of him, so I honestly have no idea what his talent level is. I'm just saying that Ferentz will take the safest route possible, and start with the older guy if the competition is close. Who knows, maybe Jake will make a name for himself. He must have done something pretty bad in practice to not see the field this year though.

Predicting that someone else has a shot once the starter is named is the boldest prediction I've seen on here since Gabe's double double prediction.
