PTL Playoffs

Gesell only scored 13 points and his team lost. A four year starter should be dominating the PTL, it's concerning that he's not able to do this.

Good grief..........he put Up 52 points one night.

He'll be very, very good this coming season.

Remember, and think back, so I don't have to say
'See, told you so'

I lol'd. Thanks for making my Friday better.

On topic, these guys aren't playing like usual incoming freshman do in the PTL. Usually new guys are around the 10-15 pt mark per game. Not 25-40 pt mark per game. Fleming is playing great, but Hutton is the one that is really surprising me. No one thought he had a very good offensive skill set yet, as he is known for his defensive prowess, but he was really turning it on.

Everything you read about Hutton is that he is a machine. He must put in Aaron White hours at the gym. One sports writer noted that every time he is at the practice gym he stays until he makes 300 shots. Now figuring he is there twice a day, that's a heck of a lot of shots... One thing is for certain, if Hutton does not see a lot of PT, it won't be for a lack of trying. It will be because we have some damn good players ahead of him!

I think Hutton gets some PT this year based on the notes of his defense. If his passing skills are solid on offense & in transition, he will see the floor plenty for a freshman.

The new guy's numbers are impressive, but watching their highlights are even more impressive. We have some serious playmakers on this team.

I wouldn't disagree with that, but his inability to score for long periods of time really hurts our offense. Having a point guard who can't shoot the three and struggles getting to the rim a lot of games really drags our offense down. When he's played well, we've looked like a very good team, unfortunately that hasn't happened as much as people expected.

I agree with most of this, especially the part about expectations earlier in his career. However, I think his elbow injury limited him quite a bit last season but helped him develop a feel for pace and when to penetrate. I'm not saying he will be all B1G, but I think he will put it together this year. He won't average 15 pts, but when he's not scoring he will be finding other guys.

And he's a great athlete. Extremely quick. I've talked with him a bit, as well as watched him play a couple of times and I like everything about him. He'll get playing time. He can defend the 2, 3 and maybe a small 4. He's quick enough to create mismatches against some 3s and 4s on the offensive end.

I was most impressed with Hutton Thursday night. He is fun to watch. A real gamer. Overall a solid class that Fran has coming in. Recruiting will contine to get better. Exciting to think about.

Your either a light shining in the darkness or a cyclone fan. Of course, you could be neither.
I just don't see much improvement in his skill set. His 3 pt % has gone down every year, as well as his FT %. His assists per game have increased from 2.6 to 4.0 (FR to JR year) but that's it. I haven't seen anything this summer to indicate that he's taking a more prominent role.
I like MG just fine but the numbers are there for everyone to look at.
Compare his numbers to Aaron White's, whose numbers all improved from his FR to his SR year. If you look at Aaron White and you see how he carried that team down the stretch last year, its a testament to a hard working player that was very serious about improving his game and his role on the team. It was the culmination of a 4 year career dedicated to improvement. That's how I see it anyway.
