PSU Penalty :: $60 million :: 5 year bowl ban :: 10 schols/year

Re: PSU Penalty :: $60 million :: 5 year bowl ban :: 20 schols/year

Now...time for the B1G to levy it's own penalty: BANNISHMENT

Ill bet not, just based on Emmerit's statement about working withthe bigten going forward. I would think that they spoke to delaney and the B1G decision prior to speaking, and would not of said anything if banishment were to come.

We'll see in an hour or so.

So when do we send coaches to Happy Valley to do some recruting?

Re: PSU Penalty :: $60 million :: 5 year bowl ban :: 20 schols/year

SMU took over 20 years to become respectable again after the death penalty, and they were one of the better programs in the country at the time. Having no program at all for two seasons means you lose most of the players already on the roster, which leaves you building practically from scratch. SMU was actually allowed to play in '88, but they elected to sit that season out because they couldn't field a viable team.

Keep in mind Penn State does not compete for recruits like SMU does, which is why they needed to cheat. The state of Texas is heavily recruited by in state and out of state schools. Penn State is the king of the east and they recruit against mainly Pitt and Rutgers.

Penn State will be able to recover from this a lot faster than SMU.

Re: PSU Penalty :: $60 million :: 5 year bowl ban :: 20 schols/year

I believe the numbers to remember is that the most amount of scholarhips they can give in one individual year is 15 and the most amount of scholarships they can have on their roster at a given time is 65.

But that is not how it reads, it says 20 per year.

Re: PSU Penalty :: $60 million :: 5 year bowl ban :: 20 schols/year

Didn't slow USC down much.

USC already plays 6 or 7 their games in a bowl destination climate .. And they get to recruit in a state that arguably has more football talent than most states combined..

USC has many built in advantages PSU does not..

Also kids from USC were not allowed to transfer, if Penn State kids start to transfer, it will get ugly..

And you're exactly right. That's not how it reads. I'm going by what Emmert said at the press conference when he was asked about it.

can someone change the title on this, virtually everything is wrong... **** it...

Re: PSU Penalty :: $60 million :: 5 year bowl ban :: 20 schols/year

These sanctions are massively overstated.
Weak sauce.

6,7 yrs PSU is good to go.

weak, weak, weak

Re:pSU Penalty :: $60 million :: 5 year bowl ban :: 20 schols/year

Iowa isn't getting a single PSU player or commit. If these kids are able to go anywhere they want and play immediately they will go somewhere they can win championships right away. More likely in conference to Wisconsin or Michigan and OSU.
Let's get real, Iowa isn't winning any championships soon, division is brutal. On a side note, that is why divisions should be renamed and realigned now. Plus does Kirk want to be part of the media circus of coaches poaching these players. Come on now, he is the anti-Saban.

ill get real, your whole post is poorly reasoned. these kids are going somewhere that both has room on the roster and on the depth chart. they wont be leaving for teams like OSU and scUM. Iowa might not get any, but they are a helluva lot more the profile of the schools that will than the ones you mentioned.
