Proof there is nothing to do in Nebraska

Which doesn't even come close to the two head coach buyouts you have in effect right now.

Irrelevant. We've got the cash, we can spend it.

I'd rather fire (and pay) the dead weight and get somebody with upside. Nothing to see here.

Good lord man you guys just can't see through the fog, can you? It's not the Riley era. It's the Solich/Callahan/Pelini/Riley era.

The Solich and Pelini era's were by and large a success. One conference title, one spot in the National Championship game, a bunch of division titles by Pelini.

Granted, the Callahan and Riley regimes were crap smears on the program, but they can be overcome.

Jesus Osborne retires, then you guys get a good coach in Solich and fire him after he wins a conference championship, 3 division titles, never had a losing record, and the firing came after a 10-3 season. What the F more do you want?

I didn't fire Solich, and to this day think it was a mistake. Many of our fans do. Too bad we had an idiotic egomaniac for an AD at the time.

Better fire that slob and keep your streak of multiple head coaches on payroll going. What else you gonna do at that point, right?

Better than letting that idiot bury the program even further, right?

Next let's bring in Bo Pelini and fire that guy after he wins more division titles than he lost, and never won less than 9 games. He was a dick no doubt, but you want to know why he bitched about your shit stain fans? Because they're shit stain fans. Fans who, in their infinite boredom and lack of other recreational activities, throw temper tantrums and heckle anyone who isn't Jesus Osborne and doesn't go undefeated every year. Guess what?

Pelini whined about the fans because he is the epitome of a fake tough guy. Talked a big game, but was cottony soft.

Does our fan base have some unreasonable, entitled idiots? Yep. Just like all fan bases.

Welcome to the Big Ten, where you have more than one full speed game against Oklahoma every year.

Yawn. The Big ten was garbage prior to Urb showing up in Columbus.

Next up in a long line of genius decisions by the storied and famed Nebraska Athletic Department is to bring in the granddaddy of 'em all. Ol' Mike Riley. A guy who in his 5 years prior to Nebraska never finished higher than 5th in the PAC12 (one year), and never higher than 8th in the others. I won't bore you with the details of how that turned out. Must have been because Riley hired Crazy Bob Diaco who came from Iowa, right? Nah.

It was an idiotic decision to hire both of those guys, hired by an AD who had no business being hired at Nebraska.

Guess what.....those guys are all gone.

So...time to go for the record and put 3 head coaches on the payroll,

I'm sensing a trend here.....I know you've always been jealous of Nebraska, but now your even more jealous because we have the $$ to get rid of dead weight coaches.

I guess we could keep crappy guys around and kill the program, but we don't.

Enjoy another year of Cpt. Kirk.

and hire Dr. Tommy's redheaded stepchild, Jesus Ginger Jr. 'Cause that'll solve eeeeeeverything, right?

Maybe, maybe not. He's only the consensus national coach of the year, and there is more talent in Lincoln (albeit, mismanaged, under-developed talent) than any team in the West.

Seems like a good start to me.

But........are you bipolar, schizto, what? First you try to clown Nebraska for "being irrelevant" then you clown us for trying to do everything in our power to become relevant again.

Your jealousy is hilarious, delicious, and somewhat pathetic.

We'll even make a comic book about him and get Billy Moos to tell those sons a bitches Harbaugh and Meyer where the bear shits (and then backtrack like a sissy when he gets called out on it).

Seems like you have a really difficult time differentiating between the fan base, the athletic department, and the media.

But, as per the topic of the thread to this point, your team has been a bumbling, irrelevant chain of embarrassing decisions driven by the ridiculous fanbase for years.

The fans don't hire and fire coaches. ADs do.

Fans don't hire ADs. The chancellor does.

Not only do we have a new system President who takes football seriously, the meddling chancellor who hired two incompetent ADs (who hired to terrible football coaches) and who did everything he could do to keep the stadium sold out but to make sure that the football program did not overshadow academics is gone.

We now have have a Chancellor (to go along with the Pres.) who takes football seriously. He hired a respected, professional AD who went out and hired the best coach (and the best fit for the program) that he could probably hire.

Everyone is now on the same page, all pulling the same direction.

Fans who can't seem to get it in their heads that their team dwells in the bottom 4th of their conference, hasn't challenged a serious contender (let alone been one) in 15 years,

And you call Nebraska fans delusional?

3 years led by a crappy AD and an even worse head coach who are no longer employed at the university is not "dwelling."

In 9 years prior we won 5 division championships and played in 4 championship games.

and that Iowa, as shitty as we are, is better than Nebraska now.

Only for the last 3 years, as we were led by incompetent and/or mentally deficient buffoons.

Not just a "flukey" better, either. We have more top tens, Conference CO-championships, 4 out of the last 5 against your squad, and in that time period outscored Nebraska 196-98, stolen your best in state recruits, had more players drafted, more first rounders, more pro bowlers, and more pro bowls total. Are we a blue blood? No way. And we can accept that.

Cool. Enjoy it. At least you know your place.

You keep being Iowa.

We're sick of being Iowa.

We want to be Nebraska again.

You know what...I'm not going to say Nebraska is back until I actually see them force Ohio State to punt. It's been 6 years and still no stop on 3rd down. Couple that with the 70 (Melvin Gordon just scored again) that Wisky put on the Huskers...and well...please let me see you keep people under 50 and 1 Ohio State punt...and I'll say you are on the right track.

In the last three games Nebraska has played Ohio State, OSU has averaged 61 points. Now, even if the AD is now saying his comment was tongue in cheek...Nebraska Football has been an embarrassment.

You used a lot of words to admit that your program sucks now. Thank you.

And I like how you took the Nebraska route and talked about the “9 years prior.” That must be taught at a young age there to defend the team by going back in time until you find something happy, no matter how far back you have to go.

Barry Alvarez, (for those who don't know a Nebraska alum) tells the story that he would have been very interested in succeeding Osborne after the 2000 season or whenever Osborne retired, but didn't get his hat in the ring soon enough. Solich, like Bielema, was probably Tom's hand picked successor for recruiting continuity and the like.

That didn't stop Barry from looking around. He came very close to taking the U of Miami gig. Donna Shalala was the Miami president then and she had previous Badger ties before joining Bill Clinton's cabinet. Barry was putting out feelers for NFL Packers and Eagles. You see, Alvarez was pissed over the Shoe Box scandal and the subsequent suspensions and the chance it cost him of a national championship that year. Very pissed.

@74Hunter you haven't been around in awhile so I'm going out on a limb here by asking............Kool Aid tasting pretty good?

I dunno.......get back to me in 4 years.

Dude, do you pay attention to what you type? You're the one referencing "15 years" and the "Solich/Callahan/Pelini/Riley" era.

Just following your parameters. Even in those 15 dark, dank years, there were a few bright spots.
