PrimeTime League

Pretty sure this would not be allowed under NCAA rules. Geographical restrictions.

Wuut? I don't think it has anything to do with NCAA rules. That is why the Primetime League and other like it were developed. Competitive summer play. The Iowa coaching staff just has to keep themselves away from the gyms, though. They are not to have anything to do with them.

Oh, and just a couple yrs ago and maybe even last year, there was an agreement with Waterloo to have games up there along with North Liberty. Already been done. This to appease the UNI players.

The lack of former players coming back is certainly the issue I'd say. But with them all playing over seas and what not it just is what it is. Having guys like Marble/White/Oleseni all come back would be awesome. It's just not going to happen...

Ironically, the younger ex-Hawks NOT coming back is actually a good sign for the Iowa Basketball Program as it shows they are getting opportunities after graduating.

Google tells me...

"Basketball student-athletes may only play on one team in one league during the summer and the league must be certified by the NCAA. Basketball leagues must meet a number of conditions to be certified, including:
  • No paying any players;
  • No postseason or all-star competition; and
  • No charging for admission, parking, raffles, or broadcast rights.
  • Players may also only participate in leagues within 100 miles of their home or their institution."
Google maps tells me that it is 114 miles from Iowa City to Des Moines.

Ok. Makes sense as Waterloo is about 85 miles away. Good find.

In a league with no defense, I think I'd take the Baer/Moss team over all the other ones. Although the Lohaus/Garza/Dailey combo is interesting.

Can a draft order be found anywhere? Kinda curious where Iowa players were drafted compared to UNI players. I saw the first 5 or 6 but nothing after that.

Those of you holding out optimism on Christian Williams need only look at the PTL draft for your dose of reality.

I'm still holding out optimism.......the slightest improvement in his game would be a big boost to the Iowa backcourt.

Well, stats coming in. Looks like the PTL has as much defense as the Capital City League. Seriously though, Hawks have some guys that can score.
