Postponed?

Huh? With unbalanced schedules there's no such thing as equal footing. How many other teams have to play Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin and Ohio State twice? Talk about a scheduling disadvantage. I'd say giving us an extra home game levels that scheduling out just fine.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. If 1 of 12 team gets 10 home conference games and 11 of 12 get 9 home games, I believe that is a competitive advantage for the team that gets the extra home game.

If this were MSU or Michigan in Iowa's position, this board would be in meltdown mode over the possibility of them getting an extra home game.

Last time my team had weird building arrangements (the cubs in 2008 played in Milwaukee against the Astros) they threw a no hitter. Basically what I'm saying is if we play in another building we're going to shut out the Hoosiers.

I don't know when or where on this game but Iowa should win whenever or wherever. All of this traveling isn't giving Iowa a competitive advantage with players sick and Wisconsin coming to town Saturday.

However, your last sentence is most definitely accurate.

Just got home so in case somebody else already wrote this my apologies:

DisAssembly Hall: Iowa-Indiana game postponed.

One thing I really don't understand...why did Iowa already leave town? Sounds like they were working on options as far as playing tomorrow in another location but Iowa just packed up and left.

Maybe the flu thing is a serious issue and we took the opportunity to take off and rest.

Perhaps the best way to look at it is the players will have time to recover from their illness. Still very disappointed, but it might work out in our favor if all are healthy....

Scared.

“Obviously, we are disappointed tonight’s game had to be cancelled,” Iowa Athletics Director Gary Barta said in a statement. “Fran and his team are in contention for a Big Ten title and were looking forward to the opportunity to getting back on the court. The most important part of this equation is safety. We are in full support of Indiana’s decision to postpone the game based on the issues with Assembly Hall. Coach McCaffery and his team are returning from Indiana tonight. We are working with Indiana Athletic Director Fred Glass and the Big Ten Conference to determine when and, possibly, where to play the game.”

I don't see how this game can be rescheduled as an Away game at IU and be fair to Iowa. If you look at Iowa's remaining game dates, you can't fit it in in less than a 2 day turn around. To make Iowa travel back to IU to play a game and then force them to play a 2nd game, either home or away, less than 48 hours later is not fair. That hasn't happened once to any team this B1G season. This game should be a forfeit. Iowa showed up ready to play and IU has substandard equipment that is not in compliance with codes. It is their fault the game couldn't be played. But, of course, this won't happen because, well, every other B1G team (the states of Michigan, Ohio and Wusc would lead the charge) of saying you can't just give Iowa a win. Well, tough chit. It wasn't Iowa's fault and to force Iowa to play a game with timing that would be detrimental is wholly unfair. So, as you probably are aware, that is exactly what will happen. Iowa will get screwed in this deal, somehow.

The way I see it is the game should now either be played at Carver, or Indiana forfeits. Neutral site seems to be out the window at this point with the team coming back home. This should not be Iowa's problem.

The Indiana Pacers offered their facility for tomorrow night and IU declined. If I am Gary Barta I do not accept anything other than a game at Carver. If IU doesnt agree than it is up to the Big Ten to decide.

I haven't seen everything yet but can someone fill me in on why we left town so fast. Playing at the proposed venue tomorrow seemed perfectly reasonable. It happened all the time last week because of snow, this does not seem that different other than a different location. Unless I am missing something this could come back to haunt us later.

Because we have all the leverage right now. If you stay around and wait that is seen as capitulating to their every whim. Good on Fran, he or someone close to him knew exactly what to do in this situation.
