The irony is, so much of what we've seen the last 4 years has been driven by the fear of what the Democrats are going to do to the country, but now Trumpism have handed the federal government to the Democrats on a silver platter. Hillary Clinton has to have been about the most beatable candidate the Democrats would have realistically thought to have run. I think any number of the '16 GOP candidates could have beat her, but they went with "that guy".
Can you imagine if the GOP had run a functioning adult in 2016? In addition to stacking the SCOTUS, you'd also likely be headed into 2021 looking at 4 more years for POTUS plus a GOP held Senate. Instead, you've got a Democrat POTUS, House, and Senate. I think we're going to see a very liberal agenda furthered over the next 2 years.
I firmly believe the GOP has been unintentionally laying the groundwork for something like what we've seen happen over the last 4 years for about 40 years now, but to see the extent to which Trump fucking blew it for them is beyond any liberal's wildest wet dream.
The biggest risk for the country going forward if you are like me and, admittedly somewhat grudgingly, admit that this is a stronger country with a functional conservative political party is that Trump still holds sway over a large chunk of the tinfoil hat types in this country. Oh, and he's built up a staggeringly huge war chest under the false pretense of mounting a legal challenges to the election results. In other words, him and his kids aren't going anywhere and the danger of that is he could create a huge distraction, even a rift, in the GOP for quite some time.
The truck flags were fun though, I guess.
